rattled alot at fist untill the oil worked its way thrugh,after that it smoothed out and the speed is easy to controll,be warned what ever grit you think you need ,first try something finer. this thing is real efficient.and the price was better than ingersoll rand.

Junk locked up after 15 minutes of on off use

I bought this ad a backup to my IR file, and so the other guy would have something to use if needed.The biggest pro is that it actually works. It's also reasonably comfortable to hold.Now let's talk about the issues.1) it's loud. Riding a straight pipe Harley at full throttle with no hearing protection loud. OK, I jest, but it is one of the loudest straight files I've ever used, and I've done body off and on for about 30 years. It also makes a rattle type sounds that my IR file doesn't. (Speaking of ir, try their new(er) muffled quiet da - you can literally whisper near our while it runs.)2) it sucks some air. Don't expect to use this continuously unless you have a shop grade compressor. If you have an oil-less, stick to the DA and hand. If you regulate the air pressure down you might find the unit hard to get going. It really wants full pressure full volume air. You can regulate the air down a bit and get it to work, you'll have to play with it and get a feel for it yourself. Everything makes a difference in high air demand tools, such as hose size, hose length, shop psi, available cfm, etc. So many situations and so many variables that you'll just have to try and experiment.3) the paper hold downs are flimsy af. If you use thick papers forget it. I tried to use a 36 grit for a rough-in, and the tabs would not engage with the 36 grid paper. It literally bent them. So I had to stop and straighten them and jump up to 80 grit because that's the next closest I had.4) the exhaust is spewed onto the work area. If you are using a compressor without a dryer you might have an issue with this. Almost all lines get the occasional few drops of water, and if that's what you have them expect to possibly see a drops of water or even a tiny ice ball go flying once in awhile into whatever you are using this on. (this is why we use an online dryer/absorber or our spray gun, it's cheap insurance.) If you see water or ice being tossed, then hands down STOP and fix your air! You MUST supply dry air to air tools if you want them to last. As a side note, air tools like oil, but be very cautious because if you don't remove 100% of the oil prior to painting, you will likely end up with paint adhesion problems over time. Obviously the pro guys know this stuff already, but amateurs might not. I also avoid silicone based products at all costs.Bottom line: for the price point this isn't a horrible tool, not by any means. However I don't think it's going to hang around the shop for more than a couple of years at most. It's probably perfect for occasional use, which is what I bought it for, or the guy doing this on the side for a couple of small jobs. For a Pro doing this everyday, stick with the name brands.
