They arrive unripened, and will need to sit out on the counter until ripe. This is not a bushel of pears, but a small box, which could easily be eaten by a family in a few days.

This fruit box is sent several times a year (4+) to a senior lady, who does not drive and is in a remote area. She loves the fruit boxes, and this one has always arrived without problem. It is well received.

Yes, you can basically poach any pear. This box contains a variety of species/types, but they are unripe at the time of arrival. It took a few days fort hem to ripen up. This is not the first time we purchased this gift box.
