Lots of great patterns

This book provides a lot of patterns based on different Native American tribal designs. I also like that they suggest bead colors as I am a beginner and a little color challenged. The book discusses bead weaving (using a loom) and applique beading (on fabric), but if you're a beginner you'll probably have to look on YouTube for more info. I think this is more of a pattern/design book than a how-to bead book. I am actually to try to use these patterns for embroidery, which I think is also doable. The first part of the book presents designs for bead weaving and the second part presents designs for applique beading. There are more designs for bead weaving than for applique beading. There is no table of contents or index, so if you're looking for designs from or inspired by a particular tribe you have to page through the book. Here's a list of tribes covered. I've tried to be as accurate as possible but provide no guarantee to accuracy. The tribe names are those as printed in the book. Note that the designs for a specific tribe aren't covered in consecutive pages, and for example you may find Sioux designs on pages 4, 8, 11, 30, etc. The number in parentheses indicates the number of patterns/designs.Bead weaving patterns/designs:(45 pages of patterns or varying sizes):* Algonquian (1)* Arapaho (5)* Assisinboin (1)* Blackfoot (1)* Caddoan Villagers* Cheyenne (4)* Comanche (1)* Crow (7)* Dakota Sioux (4)* Deleware (1)* Flathead (1)* Gros Ventre (1)* Kickapoo (2)* Kiowa (2)* Klamath (2)* Paiute (2)* Osage (1)* Menominee (2)* New England Tribe* Plains (1)* Plains Cree (3)* Potawatatomi (1)* Sacree (1)* Sauk and Fox (3)* Seminole (2)* Sioux (6)* Southern Plains (1)* Washo (1)* Winnebago (10) (No indication Nebraska or Wisconsin tribes)* Woodland (2)* Yakima (2)Applique beading patterns/designs:(12 pages)* Chippewa (3)* Cree (1)* Flathead (1)* Iroquois (1)* Menominee (1)* Ojibwa (1)* Plains Cree (1)* Potawatatomi (1)* Winnebago (2)

More Indian beadwork.

This book is simular to the book: Authentic American Indian Beadwork and How to Do It. Gives instructions the same way that this other books does it. But as the I said about the other book I would have prefered there to be color photos showing the patterns end results.

Cool book

I haven't started any projects yet, but have looked through the book and found it to my liking. I've seen some complaints that the pictures aren't colored, but they are all tagged with what color the beads should be. I was describing the book to my mother and she said that was how her cross-stitch patterns were done. The way I look at it, the complaints are kind of petty... if you want to see what they'd look like in the stated colours, one could always Xerox a page and colour it in with coloured pencils. With no colours actually filled in, you have the option to copy and put in different colours.Anyways it is nice that some of the patterns correlate with items on the cover and I look forward to trying out some of the patterns when I get my stuff together.

Extraordinary Indian Designs!

I would like to say first that I was amazed at the shape of the book since it was "used". It was immaculate and looked like new. I will certainly use this provider again. The book itself has excellent photos and instruction charts with extensive instructions. I particularly enjoyed the identification of the particular tribes the designs came from. My husband and I have a handmade jewelry business and I specialize in Indian and Celtic designs along with some particular Victorian designs and it is always a special find to see designs with the tribal information. I feel it is important to give my customers information regarding the designs they find most appealing. This book is full of ideas and creation helps that lead to a quality piece of work. I certainly will make the most use of it possible!

Beadwork

My husband and I love to go to Native American gatherings and were especially taken with the beadwork. I decided to try loomwork and was thrilled with what little I could produce but of course I wanted to do more. I found this book and I want you to know it won't disappoint you. The designs are easy to follow and whether you use the colors they suggest or use your own imagination, you will be amazed. They start off with simple projects and work you up to the larger more intricate ones. I can now easily do a project that is 32 beads wide. If you like to make things, show off your handy work, whatever your reason I encourage you to try this book. You will be amazed at how quickly you learn how to do this.

Not worth the money spent, book just sits on my shelf collecting dust and never being used.

I was slightly disappointed in the different design options and style this book had to offer and have yet to do any of the patterns in the book. Great idea behind the book but not so great final product. Wish they had better design patterns & more variety of native American patterns & had more variety styles & patterns starting w/traditional patterns passed down from our 1st elders and ending w/style & patterns created from the newest generations variations & designs
