Psychopharmacology: Straight Talk on Mental Health Medications

I am a pharmacist who is also a therapist and I find this book easy to read and student will like the way it presents the information

Si This book is paperback and the pages are always crumpling themselves - I don’t like the wasted space on the pages - this could have been more compact and thus more portable. Information is presented dryly - no images at all but very accurate.

This book lacks precision and accuracy. There are interesting discussions but the subjects are treated with confusion. Psychopharmacology is reduced to the state of popularization. There are almost no explanations about receptors and pathways. The few allusions on psychopathology are often erroneous. This is not really a book for professionals.But the own experience of the writer is valuable.

I was looking for an up to date reference for psychiatric pharmacology —names, uses, dosage, side effects, etc. This is not that resource.

This is a collection of ideas preferences and opinions of a very experienced, mildly annoyed practitioner. It's hard to tell what is evidence based practice, and what is simply good advice.For layfolks trying to get a better understanding This may be amazing. His delivery is matter of fact, annoyed, snarky-- not at all impartial or easy to review with.Board reviewers, its an intereting listen, but tmay not reflect textbook convention or exam content. It may be better suited for improving practice, not acing the exam.
