GM Genuine Parts 15874123 Radio Antenna Base Assembly

I bought this assembly to replace the original one on my 2007 Hummer H3. I was troubleshooting a poor reception issue with my car radio, and it turned out that I actually didn't need to replace this part as the original was still in good shape, but I swapped it out anyway since it was a bit of a chore to get at it (I had to remove the front left wheel well liner). The new part arrived well packaged and was very high quality as it is an GM OEM part. The price was pretty good too considering it is a OEM part - typically manufacturer parts tend to be a bit on the pricey side of the spectrum, hence the huge supply of aftermarket parts that are usually available. If you're looking at this and you need it - buy it! It fits like a glove with no worries or headaches! 5-Stars!

After installing this I completely understand why these break. The antennae puts a hell of a lot of force onto this bracket. After you put this in I'd definitely put a shorter antennae on. If you have long and not to thick arms you can pretty easily install this with only removing the back half of the wheel liner clips. Also, when you pull the antenna cable portion out of the vehicle tape a guide wire, cable, string, or whatever you have, to pull the new cable back through the vehicle. If you don't do this good luck fishing the cable back through. I will repeat, attach some sort of fishing line very securely to the old cable so you can pull the new cable back through! Outside of that it's a very straightforward swap.

Installation was "fairly" easy and it works great.

All the parts worked, but was a pain in the you know what to get the wire through. To get to the antenna you have to go through the glove compartment and under the plastic cover of the right fender. Guiding the wire through the fender to the glove compartment took a while. The trick I used at the end is to place a flash light directly through the glove compartment to wear the wire go through. Now from the fender you could kinda tell what direction to feed the wire. For more help you can find a video on YouTube, but not the flashlight trick. Hope this helps and most of all make sense.

Works...but a challenge to install.

Great replacement to my antenna, which was torn off by the car wash. It was easy to replace. I'm a girl and did it myself. Radio sounds great now
