Coated and should last for lake or river use.
It came packed well. It took about a minute to see how to put it together. I had to use a pair of plyers to bend the tabs together that the clasp locks together. I will only use this once, I'm trying to catch a snake in the back yard. But it is pretty well made. It is coated for lake or river use. It should work fine for fishermen. All in all, I think I chose a good product.

How to assemble and latch close
I didn’t find any instructions for joining the two halves together so I took a crack at it on my own (see photos). Looks like a good tight fit and hinges very well to open and close. Using the large pin to close the trap keeps it nice and tight. Will update on its use once I get it out in the water.

Snake trapper
I use this for a snake trap and it works great.

Not for salt water
Probably fine for fresh water- the clip that comes with it that holds the two halves together is rusting after 1 day in the saltwater.

Would not encourage anyone to purchase
Terribly made, when assembled there are huge gaps on each side that would let any minnows you would catch side out upon removal from water. Hoops are out of round and the pieces where you install the clasp do not align.Also was delivered late.Would not purchase again. I bought one from a bait store made by Frabill and it works perfectly right off the shelf.
