All are constructed to avoid major cities and the main motorways. And yes, you can learn to drive on the wrong side of the road, although it will take a little practice.The opening chapter addresses the practicalities of visiting Britain, including self-drive tours. Following are the 25 driving tours, with directions and suggestions on what to see and where to eat and to stay. The book includes maps, diagrams, and lots of color pictures, along with listings on the sights. This reviewer recommends getting a AA Road Atlas for Britain, and suggests that Ordnance Survey maps may be useful if you decide to add walking and biking to your tour. Otherwise, this book is a terrific planning resource, and well recommended.

I am pleased with this book. I will use it together with the DK Eyewitness Great Britain book. 4 stars instead of 5 because the print is so small. Also, The itineraries aren't provided with a link from a previous itinerary. We will be in England/Scotland for 11 days and are using 3 of the itineraries provided.

Map too small. Had some good recommendations but overall there wasn’t enough to justify the purchase for us.

Interesting

As with all the "Back Road" series (regularly use the ones for France & Italy) this is an attractive and well produced book, interesting routes and great photos.

We loved this format in the France edition. However the Uk one just seems to mostly suggest paying site to visit. Would have like to see added more interesting or pretty sites.
