Great upgrade from Timex Ironman
I bought this watch to replace a Timex Ironman that died after a few years of service. I liked the Timex because of its low price, huge display, and very easy to use all of the watch functions. I've had the Casio GW7900B-1 watch for about a month now and I don't miss my old Timex one bit. There are several comments about the inverse display being hard to read, but I find it easy to read in any lighting conditions. I would say that you have to use the backlight a little more than you would on a traditional display (for example a little earlier at dusk), but that's just a new habit to get used to. With the backlight on you can read it fine under low light conditions. The backlight actually seems brighter than what I had on my Timex.Display of numbers is not as big as on the Timex (nothing out there really is), but this watch shows more information and the display is big enough that I don't have any problems reading it.It is very easy and intuitive to use all of the features on the watch. Maybe not quite as simple as the Timex, but pretty darn close, and you have more features like moon and tide info on this one to learn how to use. Read the user's manual one time and you'll understand how to use everything.Obviously the price of this watch is more than the Timex, but this watch is built like a tank and I think it will last forever. I also think it is more attractive than the Timex. I wear it to work (office job) and people have told me "nice looking watch." It is a large watch, but looks good and is comfortable to wear. The watch battery power indicator has been on full ever since I received it. I work in an office all day under fluorescent lights and am outside an hour or two in the evenings, plus outside more on weekends. That seems to be enough to keep it fully charged without doing anything special.Time sync with atomic clock signal has worked perfectly every night and even automatically adjusted for daylight savings time. I leave the watch sitting on my dresser when I go to bed and it syncs without any special effort required. I live in Colorado, so I am close to the source of the atomic clock signal in Ft. Collins. As others have mentioned, the screws on the front face are there just for looks. You can move them around with your fingers, but it doesn't seem like they are going to fall out or anything.Overall, this is a great watch and I am looking forward to having it for many years.

A real winner
My first Casio G-Shock (the GW500A-1V G-Shock Atomic Solar Watch) lasted approximately 10 years before the battery gave out. The resin wrist band lasted the whole time.I wanted a different look this time around, so I purchased the Atomic Rescue about two months ago. With its rugged handsomeness, surely this must be the John Wayne of Casio's solar product line. Based on my prior experience, I'm sure this watch will have the precision and accuracy of "Duke" Morrison in a shootout. However, its durability and lasting power remain to be seen. It's light-weight to wear, its large size notwithstanding.Following the directions when it arrived, I reset the time zone to LAX. Since it was running a minute fast, I manually directed it to receive the radio signal from Fort Collins, Colorado. No problem. Then I turned on the auto-light feature so that a turn of the wrist illuminates the face of the watch, which is hard to read in a low-light environment. So far, the solar battery has stayed at the medium charged level, and the timepiece hasn't required a trip to a sunlit window to recharge itself. If this method turns out to be a problem, I can always toggle off the auto-light capability and press the G switch to light up the face of the watch. This method avoids unnecessary illuminations that could wear down the battery. That's the way (a.el off) I ran my first G-shock, and without a problem.I don't expect the watch to fall apart -- that is, for the screws at the top of the product to fall out, as some people have experienced. Since I am a easy on watches, I can't promise this Casio will take a pounding and come back "ticking."I live in Southern California. To pick up the correct time from Fort Collins at night, the watch sits on a dresser in the recommended position, five feet away from a window facing directly south. Fort Collins is about 800 miles NE of my home as the crow flies. This operation has been 88% effective over the past two months. While my wife teases me about my rugged-looking watch, she is not loath to asking me for the correct time on occasion.A five-star product that augments my toy collection with a measure of practicality, class and style.
