Hilarious
When I got this it was dinged up and filthy but other than that, it’s ideal for my pot head boyfriend whom I’m trying to get to go vegan. The imagery is hilarious & the recipes actually look good.

Exactly What I Wanted!
WARNING: Do NOT expect this book to contain healthy vegan recipes! Since I follow The Vegan Stoner blog, I knew exactly what I would be getting from each recipe. Just like in the blog, the munchies recipes are intended to be inebriation food. Even vegans and vegetarians crave sinful foods when they're stoned and/or drunk and/or rolling. Yes, there's a Mean Green Smoothie, Collard Wraps, and Granola to represent the standard type of vegan fare most would expect from a vegan cookbook, but that's not all! There are Enchiladas, Carnitas, Samosas, Corned Seitan Hash, Deviled Lentils, Sushi, and the interesting-looking Banana Dog for the junky-type food cravings for all.Speaking for the non-animal-consuming public that enjoys quick and tasty food that's easy enough to prepare while inebriated, this book is awesome. The ingredients are presented simply in cute little illustrations and are basic, like marinara sauce, crescent roll dough, and tempeh. These really are quicker foods, but nothing's stopping the reader from making their own biscuit dough instead of reading the ingredients on every roll of dough to make sure no eggs, milk, or casein is included. This book treats cooking just just like some cookbooks or TV shows focus on throwing a few cans together and adding a bit of pre-mixed seasoning and baking for x minutes at x temperature. Now, the "Creole Seasoning" and the other seasoning mixes become a mystery ingredient to either flub trying to replicate it blind or a frustration when you can't find a good vegan version. LUCKILY the author includes the recipes and shelf lives for the mixes as well as recipes for a few basic condiments, sauces, and bread products. There are charts for substitutions and measurement conversions as well, which is very useful for less-experienced or lazy (read: inebriated) readers. So, uh, about that Banana Dog recipe... give me some time on that one. Maybe I need to get good and inebriated for that to sound like a great idea. Best of luck to those that try it and PLEASE explain in your review what it's like. I'll live vicariously through you.

A wonderful Vegan Cookbook. Recipes easy and fun to prepare. Detailed review.
Well I purchased this cookbook for several reasons: Wanted a Vegan Cookbook with easy to make recipes, wanted recipes that were quick to prepare and most of all I wanted vegan recipes that taste delicious. This cookbook has done all this and more.Things I really love about this cookbook:1) The recipes call for just a few ingredients. And the cost of these are reasonable.2) I love the STEP by STEP format for the directions.3) There are quite a few recipes that I love...my favorites are:...Biscuits and Gravy...Breakfast Pizza (Also great for dinner)...Corn Chowder...Eggplant Sandwich...Fried Tofu Tacos (Really good)...Lasagna...Quiche (My favorite in this cookbook)...Swedish Meatballs4) Love the homemade spice mix recipes.and the Tips, for example, How to microwave Yams and Potatoes, How to Microwave Squash and much more!Since I an very new to Vegan Cooking, this is what I was looking for. I like most of the recipes, not all. Yet I found plenty I like.Overall, I really like this cookbook...Yes there are lots of pre-packaged items, quick foods in the recipes. However, I use this cookbook when I am in a hurry or just for a fun and different meal.

Fun, Easy to Follow but Loaded with Fat, Cals, Sugars and Gluten
Reasons you may enjoy this book: (1) If you're a visual learner, the artwork is downright adorable and the photos beautifully showcase the main ingredients listed. (2) If you're new to the vegan world, items listed are easily found in most local markets. (3) Recipes are easy to follow and give you lots of room to customize and adjust to your tastes. (4) Packed with comfort foods to satisfy your cravings.Reasons you may want to pass on this book: (1) Although there are a few healthy choices (Baked Lentil Potato, Mean Green Smoothie, Chickpea Curry), the majority of recipes rely on soy products items high in sugar and calories (ketchup, instant doughs). (2) If you're following a GF (gluten-free) diet, you may want to pass as this book is loaded with it (seitan, breads, chips, doughs) - although for those who need to follow a GF diet, many recipes are easily adapted for GF alternatives. (3) No nutritional facts are listed (diabetic exchanges, calories, fat content, etc). (4) This may not bother you at all but I thought I'd list it - it's a little bigger than a 5x7 inch photo frame. I was surprised - I was expecting something a little bigger; all my other cookbooks are larger than this. (But I'm not sure that's reason alone to pass unless you have an expectation that cookbooks should be larger in size.)I have lots of vegan/plant-based cookbooks and this is just not for me as I want to really fill my food choices with as much and as many healthy choices as I can. Therefore, I am returning my copy. I know that nowhere has it stated it's a "healthier-for-you" vegan cookbook. I just wanted to pass along the above in case you are new to the plant-based/vegan world and - like me - you thought that every vegan choice out there was nutritious, low in calories and low in fat. When making plant-based/vegan choices, you still need to watch what you consume if you're trying to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle.

Predominantly American Ingredients - but still a lot of fun.
I bought this as a gift from a vegan friend who occasionally likes to use other plants. I had a little flick through before I gave the gift and I have to say the illustrations were a lot of fun. There’s a lot of ingredients in this book that are more easier to get in America, but as you can buy things online these days I’m sure that’s not a massive issue. It’s a really nice, well presented book with some interesting ideas - a perfect little gift!

Wonderful, fun book packed with tasty recipes
The illustrations, graphics and design of this book are beautiful. The recipes are all very tasty and easy to make. It would be an ideal gift for people considering the vegan lifestyle or people who have basic cooking skills that want to try vegan foods. The dishes are delicious and varied. It is very American and the dishes reflect that style of cooking.

the cutest vegan cookbook of them all
definitely my favourite out of all my vegan cookbooks, got lots of ideas for those times where i just cannot be bothered to cook a meal from scratch ;) you'll need a lot of ready made ingredients for this book, a lot of which isnt very cheap or accessible in the UK, but there are always substitutions/adjustments you can make!
