Great Brake controller, Screws took work.
I don't know much about controllers, but after studying various sites and learning all I could, I decided that a Proportional Brake Controller would be better for dealing with my wife's new horse trailer.I was a little worried that the picture shows a connector and that it may not have enough wire to connect to the truck. It came with no connector, but had about 18" of wire. The instructions were straight forward. I had a Ford brake controller harness, so I just connected the brake wires to it and it went in in about 30-45 minutes. The pain was connecting the brake controller to the supplied bracket. The screws had to tap into the plastic and I was afraid I might break the thing. It is hard plastic and it took a while, but it mounted.I adjusted the settings for my wife's needs and it works great. My problem turned out that I had a loose trailer connector. There is a little red dot light to indicate connection to the trailer, it looks like a decimal point on the number display. My connection at the trailer needed to be worked on.the display is bright and it indicates the percentage of brake being applied. I found if I am stopped and hit the brake, the controller goes to 10 or 15 and then quickly to zero, so it is not wasting the brake power.Anyway if you are not comfortable wiring, buy a harness for your vehicle to wire to this.

Careful buying this from Amazon
First of all this review is not a reflection of this product. I have not had a chance to use it yet as I just got it.Second I love Amazon and use it all the time. I rarely go to Wal-Mart anymore because of it. With that said they messed up on the description of this product.Amazon claims that this Brake Controller has a connector to plug directly to a wire harness to plug directly into your truck.(there are different wire harnesses to different brand trucks) This is not true. It has no plug in, only wires for you to have to plice into other wires. There are two models of this programmer that you can buy. This one,(47295)and another one which I believe is model # 47294. I believe the 47294 has the fitting to the harnesses mounted on it. I called Hopkins,(1-800-835-0129) ask them, and that is what they told me anyways. They were very polite, and helpiful over the phone BTW.The wires in both the controller, and on the wireharness are colered red, white, blue, and black so you just have to connect those wires to each other, and it should work fine. Thats simple, and easy enough, and that will let you connect the harness straight to your truck without having to splice into its wiring, but its not just a direct "clip fittings together, and go" setup with this controller like Amazon claims.

Great value; works like a charm
This Agility controller installed easily in my 2005 Saturn Vue AWD and I used it to tow a 5.5' x 12' tandem axle utility trailer (empty weight of 1300 lbs; loaded at about 2500 lbs) with brakes on both axles. The controller worked like a charm for an interstate move. As others have said, the unit displays a decimal point when connected to a trailer; otherwise the display is blank. I followed the wiring suggestions provided by eTrailer.com, pulling power from the battery through a Pollak circuit breaker. I ran about 55% when empty (any more locked the wheels when hard-braking from 20 mph). Loaded, I ran it up to about 75-80% (I didn't try hard-braking with it loaded, but found this level assisted nicely when coming to a quick stop at the bottom of an off-ramp, etc). I'm very satisfied with the product, and impressed with the value this offers.

Proportional Brake Control
I needed a proportional controller for my F250 and horse trailer. I think the proportional controller is most gentle in applying the brakes needed with livestock. In selecting the product, the biggest issue is the connector which will attach to the factory installed wiring harness. I already had a pigtail provided by Ford, but I really preferred to have a unit with the right connector installed to avoid additional connections. As other reader reviews indicated, the product picture and description refers to the connector, but it is not actually included. So I ended up using my own connector. The next issue is finding a location to mount the unit under the dash. The only suitable space was already occupied by a CB radio. And so I made a bracket that connected to the radio bracket, that in turn the brake controller bracket could be attached in a flush manner; it worked out pretty well and neat.

Not as pictured, but seems to work well.
I gave this four stars due to the picture being off. It does not have a fitting as pictured on the wiring. The wires are loose coming from the device. I installed this yesterday on a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. For my vehicle I had to get the wiring harness that goes with my vehicle. If the device had the fitting, I would not have had to splice and wires. No big deal, but they shouldn't picture it that way. Installation is a breeze. I watched a you tube video before hand and it tells you everything you need to know. I'll post an update after I use the product some.

Meets a need
We recently purchased a camper and needed electric brakes on our truck. The first one received was damaged but Amazon shipped a replacement out immediately & sent a pre-paid label to return the defective one. This brake controller does the job. We did have issues with installation since our truck did not come pre-wired for electric brakes but my husband got it done & this is through no fault of the product itself. We didn't have a lot of options because of that. It seems to be doing what it is supposed to. By the way, the #47295 does NOT come with a connector as shown in picture. It comes ready to be hardwired. I believe a previous review gives you the number for the one that does come with the connector.
