Melissa & Doug Decorate-Your-Own Wooden Train Craft Kit

This is a fun project. We originally put the wooden wheels on it--wooden wheels came in our kit.We later found toy-repair-wheels for wooden railway trains, so we replaced the wooden wheels with the wheels in the photo. I'm guessing any train hobby store will carry these black plastic wheels and metal axles.With the black plastic wheels (and metal axles), this train rides on wooden tracks.We've had this train for over two years. It's showing the love.The wood has stood up to the playing, and I plan to try to repaint and use the stickers as a template. I'll post more pics later.

This train is a good project to work on with your youngster but just know that it is not quite as easy for your paint job to turn out to look like the train on the package! You can use that fact as an opportunity to teach you child how advertising is used to sell things. I say this so you can explain up front that their end result may or may not look like the train on the package to hopefully prevent them from disappointed if they can't do as good of a job. Their effort is most important! It is a great learning opportunity for your child - very creative project that helps with fine motor skills and creativity. However, patience is a must. You will have fun helping your child with this project - especially if he/she is a train enthusiast! The great part is the pride they will feel after they complete the project

its super cute, my 2 year old loved to paint the train, but the paint is super hard to get off hands. that's why it says it is for 4 plus year olds but i bought it anyway. whatever i can do to distract him during quarantine is a plus in my book.

I ordered this from one company, and after weeks of waiting for it to arrive, they told me they had cancelled my order due to it being discontinued. The website still showed it as available by multiple sellers, including the one who said they couldn't get it. I opted to purchase it from another seller for a slightly higher price, and it arrived on exactly the day they said it would. I think my son will enjoy putting it together, but it was much smaller than I expected it to be. It does include easy to follow instructions in english, which is a rarity among the items I've purchased on amazon. Overall I am happy with this purchase and look forward to helping my son decorate it.

My son is obsessed with trains. Always has been. He really loved being able to paint his own train and it was simple to put together. My only complaint is that the stickers they give did not match up with the train. Some stickers (chimney part and middle part) were bigger than the way the train was cut, so those stickers Will be falling off the more he plays with it. It also would have been nice to have some guidance on where to put all the stickers, but my 5 year old threw away the package picture and I did not get a good look at it/no other directions in packaging. We had some stickers left over and I wasn't sure where they went, but I let him us them if he wanted. Neither of these were things that even crossed his mind at this time though I may hear about it if a sticker comes off. Other than that, my son was super excited to paint his train and it was a worthwhile purchase.

This is very nice. Just make sure to follow instructions about WHEN to put the stickers. We put them before painting and if was a little hard to paint around. But other than that. My son loved it hey it's painting a train! My 3year old loved it and kept him calm for atleast 30min. (We know that's A LOT in toddler time😂😂)

Very cute . I bought this for a Christmas gift for one of my grand sons. I think he will have lots of fun painting his own little train . I also bought the race car and monster truck.

My 4 year old nephew LOVES trains and this was his first time painting. He sat there for over an hour focused and concentrated enjoying every moment of painting this train. This was great motor skills and he also repeated his colors. It also showed him what mixing colors could create. What an amazing moment to witness! He carried it all over and even sent pictures to the family. He was so proud of his work. Not only was this a great project but he was beaming and so proud of his hard work! A child's smile and sense of worth is priceless.

Well worth the money I have seen this for 17 pounds at toy shopsMade of real wood strong glue which is hard to find nowadays if they enjoy painting and trains this would be a real treat for them and what a lovely ornament it makes and date it as a memory as a keepsake for any train painter enthusiast of any age

The wooden parts are loose and not well fitted. The toy is tiny even for a 3 year old. The stickers also kept dropping as per what other reviewers had feedback. Do not recommend
