Works as a replacement for Craftsman Mulch Kit 241154
I had been trying to find the discontinued Mulch Block Plate for my Craftsman DGS6500 mower with a 54" deck. This thing fits 99% perfect. The only issue isn't the physical fit of the unit but is regarding the little rubber holding straps. The strap on the rear side is off somewhat to where it attaches to the deck. I chose to just drill another hole in the deck to give a place to hold. The other option would have to drill a new mounting hole in the plastic cover so it fits the existing hole in the deck. The cover fits very nicely against the deck and I'm not getting a grass blow by.Note the Craftsman part number is for a kit that would be the block plate and the blades. This is just a block plate so you will need to buy mulching blades to go with it.

Perfect fit.
Got this for my Z254 with a stamped steel 54" deck, and was skeptical about the fit. Took it out, set it on the deck, and it was a perfect fit.Update 3/21/2021: Drilled a hole in the wheel mount bracket at the front of the deck and installed a eyelet. Will probably replace the rear mounting bolt with a eyelet as well.Got it mounted and went to mowing. I was happy until I heard a noise and looked down to see the cover dragging. When I picked it up and looked at it, I saw the screw that holds the rear strap to the cover had pulled through the cover. This happened even though I didn't have it near as tight as if I had used the suggested mounting points. It was an easy fix, and I should have gone with my gut in the first place. I moved the large gold colored washer to the inside of the cover under the screw head, and added a different flat washer between the strap and cover. This provides all the backing necessary to keep the screw from pulling through, and should be done with both mounting straps. After that, no issues so far.More R&D really should be done to this and the deck. The Craftsman I traded this mower for (needed a zero turn because of bad shoulders) had provisions to attach a mulching cover already built into it, as did my mower before that one.I would still buy this cover again, just be aware that some work is needed.Because of the obvious lack of R&D and obvious look of it not being factory, I'm dropping my review to a 3.
