Taiko no Tatsujin Nintendo Switch version! japanese Ver.

I first encountered this Taiko games in an arcade in Okinawa while out on the town with my buds in the Air Force. Japanese arcades are so ridiculous and silly, it's pure fun as long as you don't mind your friends making fun of you. And I can't think of anything more stupid fun than these Taiko games. You just drum along as the goofiest Japanese pop, video game and/or children's' songs play and cartoon animals dance along. Don't expect deep gameplay, but it always brings a smile to my face and brings back good memories of running around Japan and Okinawa. The additions of some recognizable Switch theme songs, including Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon is a lot of fun. Watching the Inkling collapse face down crying while a cloud rains on his back when you lose is hilarious!In the arcade, and if you want to buy an expensive drum controller for this game, you're literally banging on a drum. I'm sure that's the best way to play this game, but I'm not spending that much money for one game. So far, I've been using the JoyCons to "air drum" which works well for normal drumming, but I must say, when you swing the controllers sideways which is supposed to simulate hitting the sides of the drum, it often mistakes that for normal drum strikes. You can also use buttons instead of swinging the controllers. That's definitely more accurate, but I think takes some of the fun out of it. I haven't tried it yet, but apparently you can play it undocked and touch the screen to simulate drumming.Overall, I think it's a very fun game for kids or adults that don't mind looking ridiculous. Of course if goofy Japanese pop music annoys you, that might be a deal breaker.

The game is originally fully in Japanese but intalling the update will turn it into English. Only downside of buying this Japanese version physical copy is that you won’t be able to download the US DLC extra content songs wich I’m pretty bummed about and that’s why I’m giving it a 4 star review.

I've played other games in the Taiko no Tatsujin series and they're all great fun, specially if you like to make a fool of yourself in front of friends wailing your arms like there is no tomorrow. So this game is no different, great selection of songs from Pop to Anime. A few weeks ago, playing this game would have been kind of a chore for people who don't know Japanese, but now it's been patch to English so I'll say go for it, Controls aren't super precise when you're playing with the joy cons but still super fun. I recommend this to anyone who wants a not at all serious experience and for people who doesn't care for super precise execution. Extra points because it's an excellent excuse for moving your body, don't believe me? Try playing on Oni (expert) difficult, it's like having seizures while laughing your head off.

I ordered the Japanese version but got the Chinese. I suppose it doesn't matter since it translated to English anyway, but I can't read Chinese on the cover. The game is pretty fun, but the drums can be a little inaccurate and so are the motion controls.

Fun and different! Was addicted to the arcade version while I was in Japan. Plays on my switch here in the states with no problem and with a little setup I’m able to get all the dlc for the game too.

Awesome fantastic fun!!! Just like arcade game in Japan!! Drum control responds perfect. FYI if you download most recent update in America it will change menu/ subtitles to English:/

Freaking love this game. You can play it in English too in case you can’t read Japanese.

Practically unplayable with motion controls. I would stick with some other version- I’ve put many hours into this game hoping it was just a learning curve but it’s really not. The motion controls simply are garbage and unacceptable for a rhythm game. Unless you’re ready to shell out a ton of money for the drum peripheral, pass this one up.

Joy-Con(フリフリ)でプレイすると、コントローラーの認識がされにくいと思いました。おすそわけプレイはボタンがなかなか慣れません。曲をクリアすると新しく叩ける音楽が追加されます。ダウンロードで曲が追加出来るようです。家族で盛り上がりました。
