MirkaDeros MID650-912-5 6" Electric Dust-Free Sanding System

This product is far superior and well worth the hefty price.

I did A LOT of research before purchasing this sanding system especially due to the price. We have done a lot of remodeling/updating in our home and the worst part of any updates is the dust. It gets everywhere through the house. I had previously purchases a vacuum attachment which is a hose with a place for a sanding sponge and that worked OK but did not capture as much dust as you would think. It was honestly better than nothing at all but still left quite a bit of dust. In addition to home projects I also like to refinish furniture so I came across this sander and after MANY excellent reviews and many videos of people using it, I decided to get it. Honestly, for me, it was well worth the price given the number of projects I do but also for keeping dust at bay. It used to forever to get dust out of the house after every single room update. I love this system!

Worked better than expected. The sander did break after 3 months with about 1-2 hours of use each week but it has a warranty so hopefully it is covered. It is so much faster than using a 5" random orbit sander from big box stores. About half the time or less of using the old sander and nearly no dust. Typically the only time I noticed dust was edge sanding and even then it was minimal if you turn the suction higher. Way quieter than expected as well.Dust collection with the abranet pads is incredible but you also need the normal style sanding pads to sand edges or surfaces that have a sharp edge as the abranet tends to tear on a sharp edge. Also buy the pad protectors. When they wear out the work good for hand sanding.

This sander is different than any other sander I've had - and I've had a few. Because of how different it is, I tried to speak with a tech support rep to make sure that the sander is OK and that I am using it properly. I reached out to tech support several times, no answer! Nothing! Nada! I tried to reach out to the manufacturer in Finland. It took several tries, and I finally got someone on the phone. She told me that someone would contact me. But, never happened.Bottom line, if you buy this sander, you are on your own.

Obviously, if you are in the market for a true dust-free sander, with integral dust extractor, there are only two real choices. One is Festool and the other Mirka. After A LOT of research, I chose Mirka and I'm am VERY happy with my choice. I also love the Abranet sanding discs, which are basically a sanding "screen" since they are completely perforated, instead of only 8 holes like the competitor. This allows the dust extractor to completely extract the dust and keep your environment (and lungs) clean. I still wear a respirator mind you:)

My friend recommended this machine to me, and I am quite happy with it. I will be using this to refinish my Daughter's Kitchen table, amongest other projects of course, and have had nothing but great experiences using this sander. Thank you so much for this machine! Anyways, I will also be wet sanding clear coat sealers with this beauty, and will try to share a video when I get to that point. Quite happy with this purchase...is a shop investment.
