Solid processor for the great price

I don't know why people are spending and arm, leg and your friend's arm and leg for an Intel Processor. I had this processor for about 6 months now. Never had a single problem with it. It runs my games, and other serious applications very well. No overheating problems. Even though is has great overclocking ability, I don't need to overclock jack because it can handle all the applications I throw at it. Great processor with great speed and great relibility. So I ask again. Why on Earth will I go let myself get ripped of by Intel with their processors when this fine AMD FX-6100 does everything for a cheaper price? Second question. Why should I let myself get fooled with Intel baloney of so-called "second generation dual core processors" when this 6-core processor does just as good or even better than Intel processors? Look only a dummy will spend a ton of money on an Intel processor.

Amazing value

This processor is one of the best processors in terms of performance per dollar on the market right now, with only a few of the other FX processors such as the FX-6300 being better in that regard.in terms of performance, this processor can be considered just below Intel's 3rd gen i5 processors for gaming on par or even ahead for other, more general usage tasks however, it is also at least $80 cheaper. at the same price point, it is approximately %10-20 better than intel's offerings. As of yet I have had absolutely no problems with this chip.In terms of overclocking, I have been able to get clocks of up to 4.1ghz with stalk cooler and no voltage change and have gone up to 4.5 with a small increase in voltage. with better cooling and more patience, even higher clocks could be achieved.Pros:Fastgood overclockabilitycheapcons:requires either dedicated GPU or GPU embeded in motherboardlimited quad channel ram support

Budget CPU that is comparable to the junior level Intel i5 chips

I purchased the FX-6100 as part of my desktop upgrade. I needed speed at an affordable price so this chip was a fit for me. I use my PC for video editing, picture editing, browsing online, and streaming movies. For gaming, the CPU is only mediocre; this CPU will not perform nearly as well as the Intel i5's like the i5-2500 quad cores. Also, the FX-6100 CPU is power hungry, rated at 95 watts, which will heat up a small office fast. On the other hand, in pricing, the AMD FX wins compared to the Intel's i5 CPUs.Most PC games use just 2 cores and rarely 4 cores. Games today do not take advantage of the multiple cores in some chips, especially 6 or 8 cores which are underutilized during gaming. AMD APUs like the A8 and the newer A10 will be a better choice for gaming due to its advanced CPU and GPU combination on one chip die (an A8 APU alone will allow the PC to play games that require DirectX 11, currently the latest revision for the gaming market). The AMD APUs are also more energy efficient and better on the budget because purchasing a video card is not required (a Crossfire video card can be added later to complement the AMD APU). My next upgrade will be from an AMD FX CPU to the AMD APU socket FM2 or better.I am still impressed with the FX-6100 because it allowed me to install Windows 8 Pro and the free Windows Media Pack in under 20 minutes. A fast processor and a SSD like the Crucial 128 6GB/s solid state drive is essential for improving speed of installs and PC cold starts. My FX-6100's CPU Windows Experience Index (WEI) is 7.4., and the Crucial 128GB Sata3 WEI is 7.7 out of 9.9 max.

Energy efficient, powerful CPU, unbeatable price for 6 cores

The FX6100 is powerful and has tremendous value for six cores. It is fast and is suitable for gaming and other computer tasks.* 3.6 ghz and six cores. Nice! Great for multi tasking, data processing, editing, and other various tasks.* 16mb total cache. That's a good amount of cache, considering the price.TH FX 6100 performs well. I primarily use the PC for gaming, video editing, and video production. It has not disappointed. Highly recommended!

I was always a doubter of AMD

Being a huge fan of intel processors in the past, I was very hesitant to try an AMD, but luckily I was on a tight budget when I bought this. It might not be as fast as Intel on calculations like video encoding, but this thing definitely beats intel when it comes to gaming. I am able to achieve 65-70 fps with all my original graphics and parts (other than a motherboard and I7) while playing most games where my previous I7 only got 50-55 fps. This thing also has a huge overclocking overhead while staying cool(4.3ghz).So what's in the box?-The processor duh-heatsink with paste and a fan attached to the heatsink (Not the best cooling when overclocking so I upgraded)-AMD stickerEdit: If you have the extra money, I would suggest the FX-6300. Much better performance over the FX-6100.
