Not for the hearing challenged
This audio volume of this doorbell makes its usefulness questionable in any but the quietest environment, by people with normal to excellent hearing. If you are even slightly hearing challenged, seek other resources.

Good instructions. Works a treat.
This is a 9vdc battery (not supplied) or wired bell with just two notes (ding-dong).Easy to install with a variety of pictorial wiring methods on the supplied instructions sheet. It is quite unobtrusive at 12cm x 8cm.It takes a 9vdc battery such as the MN1604B1.I opted for a 8vdc transformer and outdoor speaker cable because I have a repeater bell in the back garden. You will need electrical knowledge to install a transformer but it is easy to do if you know how.If, like me, you have a transformer DO NOT FORGET TO REMOVE THE BATTERY CONNECTION.

Very nice unit
A very attractive replacement for our 28 year old one. Sadly it’s not very loud. We have discovered that that isn’t Byron’s fault. Thanks to the EU doorbells are not allowed to be more than 9db. :o(((((

Sturdy but tricky to install
I have been working on a DIY project recently to create an annex on the side of my house and needed a door bell chime and this one fit the spec I was looking. It does the job and is very sturdy but I found it really confusing to install (and usually I’m very good with this kind of thing!). Think the instructions could be a bit better but I got there in the end!

Overeall good value
This wasn't really what I was expecting for a 'classic sound' ding-dong bell. There is no bell but plates of metal that are chimed electronically. The sound is not what would call 'classic', I found it rather tinny. I have stuck some insulating tape around the connection to the plates in two places and this has improved it though. Bearing in mind the price, I'm not complaining. Neat looking device.

Easy to fit, loud enough
Some reviewers have said this bell is a bit quiet but it's plenty loud enough for this house. Unit is smaller than the bell that it was replacing so needed a bit of touch-up on the wall that had been covered by the previous bell (had an unrealistic expectation that bells were a standard size).Previous bell had 4 C size batteries, this uses a much smaller 9v PP3 battery so time will tell if that doesn't last as well.
