If the shoe fits, your toes are happy!
I just researched that runners are recommended to buy shoes half the size bigger than your actual shoe size since your toes and arch of your feet grow. Didn't know that fact when i bought this item. However, so far the shoe is great despite the snug fit. It took only 3 days to break in just from walking in them. I did 2 5k runs in them on pavement and on a wooded trail and it performed great with ease compared to my old sport Avia running shoes. As far as the size and weight ofbtge sneaker, it is kinda bulky for wooded trail running with all that venture 6 gel padding. It provides the support great, but bottom heavy for those wooded trails. I strongly recommend staying on paved and rocky trails with this sneaker. You can't really feel the wooded trails with this sneaker which is important when running long distance or exercising. Overall the support and color schemes are great. I still need to try these Asics on a "real" hiking trail to see how much arch and ankle support it provides. Its extremely comfortable and it breathes well. Asics do tend to run a smidge bigger compared to Nike runners, so keep that in mind when choosing the correct shoe size. I wear 8 1/2 mens, which i should have bought a size 9. If you don't buy half shoe size up, you will develop calluses and blisters and possibly toe cramps and arch issues. If the shoes also forces you to change the way you run, then that's not good. You need a bigger fitting sneaker. This is great for its market value. Still wish they had more brighter and color scheme options for men in running shoes. I get so jealous of the women's color schemes, they look so much better. Overall a great product and Asics comes highly recommended. A product that will last.

Comfortable
My last new pair of sneakers were finally worn out. They had lasted about 10 years, back blown out, tread worn thin. My wife and I started walking, do 2-5 miles a day, and thought it was time to buy a decent pair of shoes. These fit the bill, a bit more than I spent 10 years ago, but looked sturdy. And they are. So many shoes I have seen seem to be one piece of molded foam. I buy them for my kids, they wear out as fast as they outgrow them. These are a bit heavier, but seem like they should hold up. The tread is substancial, almost boot like. Although much of my walking is sidewalks, we do get snow up here, and I do a bit of lighter hiking. I am thinking, if I were a runner, I might think they were a bit heavy, mainly because of the tread. They are supposed to have gel in them, probably do, but not super squishy like my kids shoes. I am up to about 20 miles with them, no break in time needed, fit perfectly, and very comfortable out of the box for my walking.

Good basic trail shoes
Bought these for trail running and after ~60 miles I’ve come to like them.If you’re not new to Asics you know they tend to run wide in the forefoot with a bigger toe box than most other brands. I personally find the extra room up front makes for better toe engagement when running and better fitment as your feet swell after miles add up. However this model is almost too roomy and I find myself not feeling super locked in to the shoe when descending steeper sections of trail at a clip. Hot spots under the balls of my feet when going downhill make it so I can almost feel holes forming in my socks. Maybe this is common to all trail shoes, I’m still new to the sport.Traction is great, much better than trying to run over dead leaves in road shoes. Especially downhill. They’re not particularly light or shock absorbing but I kinda appreciate the firmer ride for technical terrain and the lower impact of a trail over the road takes a load off the joints anyway. The vinyl(?) paneling on the upper feels tough and certainly more protective than road shoes. I’ve kicked a few roots and rocks and haven’t experienced much damage to either my toes or the shoes. That being said the construction isn’t out of this world, it’s just... adequate.I supinate and have high arches and these things feel fine and truly neutral for me. I’d buy these again.

Asics are always good
I always use Asics running shoes. The heel cup on these is stronger than most brands. The cushion and support cannot be beat. I have tried other brands in the past but once I switched to Asics, I found that I had less issues with recovery from my runs. The sizing is consistent and these fit as expected. The price on these shoes is phenomenal. Overall, it is fantastic quailty for a very reasonable price.
