Mixes well and adds heft to your dishes.

I bought this as an experiment to add to my morning pumpkin purĂ©e instead of having to leave out some regular cream cheese to soften.It worked wonderfully. 2 tablespoons of the powder took in lots of the moisture from the purĂ©e creating a wonderful creamy thick texture. This along with some spices makes a wonderful “lazy” pumpkin pie treat.Also worked well as a thickener for sauces in savory dishes.I took a gamble buying the 2lb option instead of the single pound but the difference in price was so negligible it would have been a waste in cost effectiveness if it worked out
 which it did!I definitely recommend this cream cheese powder and will be using it on the daily. Mixes extremely well in everything I have tried so far and can be a huge time saver when it comes to softening cream cheese.

I am older and live alone

So when I make a carrot cake or a batch of cupcakes, I do like having a better icing than just powderd sugar. This powdered cream cheese with a bit of confectioner's sugar mixed in (and any flavoring drops I have on hand that would taste good) with filtered water - that is some really good icing! And the best part is that it is self-stable so I can use it over time and it will remain the same. Not a prepper, though I understand why survival types like this - no refrigeration, just need some water and you have a spread for fresh made bagels or like me, a delicious icing! I think this is my 3rd time buying it? It's so good!

Love for some uses, not for others.

As a baker and cook, this is very handy to have on hand for those times when I just need a little cream cheese and don't want to open a whole brick just to get a few ounces of cream cheese. For this, I love it. For the times when I need cream cheese for it's flavor, I don't love it. For example, making a casserole that needs 3 oz. of cream cheese for creaminess and thickening? 5 stars! For cream cheese frosting, cheese cake, or spreading on a bagel, the real cream cheese flavor just isn't there and the product falls flat. For this? 3 stars. I compromised and gave it an overall 4 stars because I will for sure use it, it is handy and it saves me from having partial blocks of cream cheese turning to mold in my fridge.

Great taste

I use this in my various chaffle recipes. Adds a very nice flavor. One ingredient means no chemical additives
so I feel confident in using this.I order this all the time.

Strong oily aftertaste

I wonder if I got a bad batch. I mixed it with water according to the to the recipe and it has an awful mechanical oily aftertaste. Waste of money.

Convenience in a bottle

Hoosier Hill Farms makes all sorts of powdered dairy products. We have used most of them. Everything is less expensive if you get it from your grocer's dairy case. But not a lot less expensive if you don't catch a special.We started getting HHF stuff as emergency stock. A little dairy goes a long way when you simply can not buy any. What I found is that having cream cheese, or sour cream, or butter, or whatever on hand ALWAYS has saved me innumerable runs to a store. The alternative, making something...else... with the ingredients can work sometimes. Never finding that the other half of the sour cream or milk is unusable is a savings too. Realistically, in my house, with 3 people with bizarre schedules, the odds that that 8 oz block of cream cheese gets used up before it gets nasty are not that good. So if you have a plan and you know that you will use it up, get fresh. And if planning is challenging, but you still like to eat at home, have a supply of dairy on the shelf. You will use it in the years before it shows age. If you bake, or if you make up your own back-pack meals, you may use it surprisingly quickly.

Good Aid. Not sure about the flavour though.

Ok. So I've used this twice for my cream cheese frosting and here's how I think it's best used...This is a fantastic aid to your cream cheese frosting. If you use it with just butter and powdered sugar, there isn't much of a cream cheese flavour at all... trust me... I used one and a half cups of this with two sticks of butter and idk what that flavour was... but it wasn't cream cheese.If you're like me and live in a country where the cream cheese has a high water content (your cream cheese frosting becomes runny), then add this "powdered cream cheese" to your recipie. You'll have a more firm and more pipeable frosting!Yes there is a sort of texture or powdered feel to the frosting but it isn't as promenant as you may think... and yes I use a lot in my recipie. But my frosing sort of stays put... no fancy piping but smooth simplicity without the runny mess!My recipie?8oz cream cheese3/4 cup - 1 cup butter... I like 3/44 cups powdered sugar (yes you need all. Don't skimp. It helps with the "hold")1 1/2 cups cream cheese powder1 1/2 tsps. vanilla extract1/2 tsp. lemon extractBeat the butter first till smooth. Beat in cream cheese well. Add the cream cheese powder (no need to sift as it's super fine and clump free). Beat for one minute. Add powdered sugar one cup at a time and extracts. Beat on high 2-3 mins.Tip: Make your frostings (this and all others) the day before and store in the fridge. The flavours marry so much better. Take out and bring to room temp before use. You may beat it for one minute again to re-fluff.Yes I am re-purchasing!
