US Forge 99111 Full Face Grinding Shield, Clear

I've been waiting for this face shield for three weeks. I was NOT going to a grocery store, or into close quarters with others, until this face shield was received. People in my area are NOT following separation or mask guidelines and the number of Covid-19 cases / deaths are increasing at an alarming rate.So, it arrived today. Here are my impressions...When I removed the shield from the box my heart sank. Many reviewers had complained that the shield itself was not clear and impossible to use. My poly-vinyl shield was blue and impossible to see through. I attached it to the helmet and secured the shield by turning the tabs at the top of the shield. That secured the face shield perfectly.I tried to see if there was a covering. I couldn't find any separation or film on the screen. In the dark blue shade that I received the shield was useless (and scratched from shipping.)I looked more closely and I saw that one side of the poly-vinyl shield had bubbles indicating that there was a plastic covering. I took my fingernail to the "bubbles" and one side of the shield yielded a thin plastic cover which peeled off easily. So far so good.Now, what about the other side. I tried several times to find a plastic covering on the other side, but I couldn't find one. Again, my heart dropped, because without removing all the films from the shield it is basically useless for indoor use - too dark.I kept looking at the vinyl shield and kept trying to separate any plastic covering from the shield itself. I don't know how, but eventually the blue covering on the other side separated from the shield and I peeled it off as well. That yielded a perfectly clear, scratch free, beautiful crystal clear shield. So, all the people that said that the blue was from the plastic covering were absolutely telling the truth.Now, as for the helmet itself, it's excellent. There is a knob in the back to tighten the band horizontally around one's head. Super easy. There is also a band across the top of the helmet that can be adjusted for larger or smaller heads. Two tiny plastic knobs pop into the other side of the band to secure the top head strap. It works great. Lastly, the shield itself can be flipped up or down and secured by turning the two knobs, one on each side of the screen. So, this helmet is infinitely adjustable and for the money it's REALLY well made.So, I went from disappointed and despondent, thinking that I had gotten ripped off, to really happy with my purchase. This is medical quality gear. Months down the road, when this pandemic is finally history, this shield will come in handy when I am using my edger or weed eater during yard work. I've often had small stones and dirt bounce off my sunglasses, so this shield will be perfect for preventing face or eye injury. All in all, this is a great product at a great price and very well made - money well spent.

This thing was perfect for what I needed. Bought it for eye protection weed eating because recently had been hit in the eye while wearing glasses. Figured more protection would be a better idea than just glasses. Used it for about 5 hours today, took 3 or 4 rocks to the face at high speed and the mask held up great. Very minor imperfections if any where the rocks hit. Also didn't have any issues with fogging up but I can see how that could happen in colder weather.Save your eyes for 20 bucks, great deal. Also when I had the mask flipped up I would forget I had it on, really comfortable fit.Edit: Take off the protective film from both sides when you receive the item. It is perfectly clear. The negative reviews are laughable. Don't be that guy.

I wanted to protect my face while sawing up some gnarly wood with a Sawzall. My head (hat circumference) measures about 21.5 inches around and this visor barely fit. I had to prop it on my bun and not move my head too much. Also, the plastic is rather opaque and difficult to see through. I feel confident it will protect me from any nails popping out of the wood - the visor is nice and sturdy - but I wouldn't want to do any detail work with this on. If you have a similar problem with it being too large, try wearing a headband underneath or stuffing something in there to tighten it up.

My son uses this for Blacksmithing and belt sanding. It can withstand sparks and grits, 3 months later it still looks new.I recommend storing this in a box or something so your tools and other stuff won’t scuff it up. The transparent shield part still looks like brand new minus the dust or what not around the housing.Oh it is so light weight and clear that will spark joy in whatever you do!

For many years I was only wearing safety glasses when using a weed trimmer (aka weed whacker) and got away with it until this year a small rock was kicked up into my right eye. The projectile made it underneath the safety glass and bruised/scraped my eye. I had to go to the ER for treatment. It healed up but left a 1500 dollar wound on my wallet. A less then 20-dollar face shield is a better deal me thinks and eyes that are in original factory condition. This face shield is light weight, provides total face coverage and can be adjusted to fit comfortably. The shield lifts up when needed without having to remove the headband. This comes in handy if you need to wipe sweat or sneeze. I still wear safety glasses underneath; old habits are hard to break. Life is tough, tougher with injuries that can be avoided.

After getting the protective film off (always a huge pain) it assembled and adjusted in minutes. Full face protection without vision obstruction. Very adjustable and stays in place once it's adjusted.

Good basic protection. Not heavy duty a professional might need. Great for the occasional grinding, cutting, etc. that I do. Good value.

Did not like green tint on shield. Hard to see. Oh- green was a peel off protective layer on both sides! Luv this shield ! Very adjustablefor a s great comfortable fit. Also shield has adjustment to keep it from moving at any angel.
