Westek 758CTC 1800W outdoor post-eye direct control - Amazon
The Westek 758CTC 1800W outdoor post-eye direct control we ordered was delivered in good condition within delivery estimated time and was well packaged. The unit is well made, of plastic. Good installation instructions were included in the manufacturer's box.Installation was straightforward - a direct replacement of the old unit (different manufacturer), which finally failed after 24 years. Our post-eye is installed on the exterior side of a garage wall, just below the eaves. Yours may or may not be installed on a yard light post.We ordered a post-eye having over twice the watt rating of the combination of highest wattage possible using the bulb type that fit in our yard lights.(Better safe than sorry.)This unit is not adjustable for light intensity that turns the voltage on or off and it appears to be set just right for dusk lights on and dawn lights off.Remember to turn off your circuit breaker / fuse at the main power supply box and to confirm zero power with a voltage tester BEFORE you start working on wiring disconnection / connection for removal of your old post-eye and installation of the new one. Don't turn the power back on before you have completed installation of the new post-eye and have closed up any electrical boxes / Posts.

Works great!
I installed one of these in a lamp post 15 years ago. Because of the elements, the plastic lens eventually got foggy, so it obscured the daylight and the bulb stayed on most of the time. This is an exact replacement and it worked great! Bought the original at a big box store, and 15 years later and this one was less expensive. One thing - Because I had to feed it into the lamp post, I needed a helper for an extra pair of hands.

Wish they were Smaller but the work perfect
These are a pretty large size in comparison to what I had wanted, but that being said, they worked perfectly for the application. I did end up modifying them to fit what I needed, but they worked without issue and wiring was super easy.

Defective sensor
Update:The light no longer works after 2 months, the sensor will not turn the light off in daylight therefore it’s defective. After contacting seller for a replacement I was informed they will not provide a replacement due to the purchase date exceeds 30 days. Not good customer service.Original purchase date:Need for exterior light, works great, no issues

Simple installation but not for non-dimming LEDs
I bought this to convert existing carriage lights to turn on automatically at dusk. I drilled out a hole in the wall mount of the light for the sensor and simply wired the sensor to turn on 2 lights. I tried non-dimming LEDs in it but they do not work. Your experience may vary depending on the LED circuitry. I suspect dimming LEDs will work. Interestingly, although the box says it works with LEDs, the instruction insert excludes LEDs as being compatible. Also note that if your circuit has another automatic light control or a dimmer then this will not work. Only use this on a circuit that is either hard-wired to the breaker or that goes through a simple switch.I will use another one of these to control recessed lights on my covered front porch. I'll extend the lines with 16-ga wire to ensure the sensor is positioned to optimally catch daylight cycles. I will see if my LED flood lights will work or if those will also have to replaced.I will buy more of these if they last a reasonable period of time, but deducted 1 star for lack of complete compatibility with LEDs.

Works on any type of 120 volt lighting
This is a reasonably-priced solution for keeping your outdoor post lamp from using electricity during daylight hours. Its three-wire circuitry allows using it for nearly any type of light bulb: incandescent, L.E.D., mercury vapor, or CFL (twisty) fluorescent. This is because, unlike the two-wire devices, it doesn't function by running a small electric current through and incandescent's filament. I have installed many of these in a senior community in Florida. Each home and condo in that community is required to have a post lamp. They were all wired to keep the light on continuously. I believe that the device pays for itself in less than a year.
