Show Don't Tell
Did you ever hear the expression, "Show, don't tell." These cards are kind of the opposite. Still helpful, but certainly could've been better.

Great set of challenge prompts for broadening your skills
I ordered these expecting them to be more posing suggestions, but they're challenge prompts--which is good, and pushes my skill limits as well, just not in the way I expected! There are enough to do a weekly challenge in each deck for beginners who only want to focus on one prompt at a time, but advanced users can pull a card from each deck and get one of around 20,000 unique combinations to really push their skills. And that variety in potential difficulty is what makes this so much more useful than any of the prompt lists I've found online. The cards themselves are a pretty standardized design for each deck, so I feel these are priced a little high, but almost everything for photography is--especially lenses and filters and gray cards!

Interesting gift for the photographer
So, this comes with a base, extra and portrait "deck." It's a good way to stretch photographic muscles (or just learn.)Most (other than the portrait deck, of course) you can do on your own, others you'll need (or probably want) help with. Prompts can be anything from the very straightforward ("Hands," for instance, or "The night sky" or "A leaf") to technique (overexposure) to what could be fairly vague ("Decay" or "Unappreciated beauty.") Some can just be found - possibly with a bit of looking, others ("A frame within a frame") can take a little setup. The expansion deck gives more of the same with different prompts. The "portrait" deck has fewer cards, but two prompts per card. (For instance, "Portrait with window light/Portrait that tells a story" is one card.) So, smaller deck, but more possibilities. I suppose if you really wanted a challenge, you could try combining the two - easier with some (Portrait with a hat/facial hair) than others (Portrait from above/portrait from below.)So if someone's getting started, or in a rut, or really just about anything - especially with nearly every phone having a camera - these can be a fun idea.

Better suited for someone with more photography experience than I have
I recently started taking up photography as a new hobby and there is a lot to learn. I ordered these cards as a resource to focus on a particular subject but though there are so many subject ideas, I still don’t have a clue on how to set the camera up in manual setting to take the best pics. I would then have to refer to other resources to get the right settings. What would’ve been nice is to have directions on how to set your camera up on manual setting to take the best picture and also suggestions on the type of lens printed on the back of the card. These cards are better suited for someone with more experience than I have.

Photography idea cards
This are just cards with words on them. They would be so much better if they had example pictures. There are a lot of words that I don't have any clue where to start. Could have just sold a piece of paper with a list of words.

Vague but open to interpretation
Each deck individually the cards are usually too vague to really inspire much. I think the best way to approach this set is to pick one card from each deck and try to combine them to give you a clearer concept to work with.

Incredibly Helpful!
I am a jewelry artist and always get stumped when it's time to photograph my pieces. I'm going to go as far as to say that photography is the hardest part of being an artist Because you are relying one hundred percent on your photo to sell the product. Whoever invented these cards is an absolute genius. There is so many options and variety for inspiration on photos to take with whatever person or object you are focusing on. The decks are well made and there is a crease at the top so you can open and pull back without tearing the box. They came wrapped in a box. The cards are great quality with a glass finish and this is an absolute savior for me. This would be a perfect gift for anyone who has to take photos to sell their product.
