Merry Pet MPS002 Wood Room with a View Pet House

I think it is more charming than useful. I bought it for my miniature poodle puppy who has made a good start at eating the stairs. Would be nice on a lanai in a temperate area or indoors.

Arrived quickly. However noticed this while assembling:The house is built from cedar and something else (for color, I guess) with a strange odor (not cedar like) - and within 2 hours of touching it, ANYWhERE that it had touched me during assembly-- my hands, arm, leg, etc -- I have severe itching and hives. Like driving you nuts severe itching and bright red irritation and hives, ugly hives!!! Something has been treated into the wood on the little house that i am super allergic to. I was up most of the night itching, even after taking a double dose of benadryl!Secondly, The stairs for it could only accommodate a tiny chihuahua - my furbabies are shihtzus and the stairs are too tiny. plans are already being made at my house to do a re-make of the stairs into on long ramp up the side. Luckily we live in an old big house with plenty of openness.As for the reaction, the entire house will have to be sealed with a varnish so not to expose myself or my fur-boys to anything irritating. The house comes in with some kind of stain on it WITHOUT any varnish or sealant-/not a smart move but they DID save about $1 spending on improvements on THEIR part. It would have been better to add the varnish, Merry Pet Company!In the end, would I recommend ?Without sealant and stair modification? NopeIf they were to invest that $1 for sealant--yes if you have a very tiny dogIf they were to invest $1 for sealant AND redesign stairs? A strong YES -- it iS extremely cute -- our shihtzus love to play house in Amazon boxes, we thought they should have a real little castle of their own!

I bought this cat house to serve as an indoors feeding spot for one of my geriatric cats (6 lbs) who's on her way out. I wanted something that would fit in our room, be high enough for our Pom/Spitz mix (18 lb) dog to stay out of, and had a platform large enough to accommodate food and water bowls.NOTE: I've had the house set up and in use for 4 days.PROS:- Lower price tag than competitors.- It's cedar, so it doesn't smell of chemicals (e.g., like a painted one might) and absorbs water without terribly rotting out the wood. (I might consider treating it with a water repellant at some point, though.)- The platform fits my cat's food and water bowls (2 separate bowls) nicely.- The platform is high enough to keep my dog out of the food bowl on it.- It's adorable!CON:So far, I can only see one con. Like many others have mentioned, the stairs are a little awkward. I'm not sure if it's just the fact that the stairs are oriented to the SIDE of the platform (vs. leading up to the platform), that there's no backing under the steps (it's just space, not a solid staircase), and/or that there are only three steps. My 6 lb cat kind of uses the steps, but she typically will put her paw on the second step and then jump to the platform.My cats won't go inside the hole/cubby at the bottom, but that's just because they're weird (they don't do this with any of the previous cubbies we've bought them!).

I bought this for my little dog. The stairs are VERY steep. I decided to put a railing on it and close the back of the stairs. I also wanted to be able to lift the top off for easy access which it isn't designed to do. So I left off some screws to be able to do that, I also had to take the little piece of wood attached to the stairs that went under the house. The stairs are just attached at the top, so I braced them and added another railing on the stair side. It would be better if it were a ramp. As of yet, I haven't been able to get my dog to climb the top. I will be working on her for that, I have some anti slip stickers coming for the stairs, and am hoping that will help. I may need to make a ramp if I can't get her to do the stairs. All in all it's a cute house (I have it inside). But I think the design for the stairs could be much better. A ramp that's not so steep would be ideal. The inside and top are like 18x18 ish. You cannot find a dog bed that fits that (most beds are rectangle). So I made one.
