Overall I prefer gel to mousse as I find my hair does not look like it has product in it and gel is generally easier to brush out. It also feels like it is being conditioned, though I would need to use it for longer to be sure. I have used three pumps of the gel on my first attempt, and it worked fine, I think four might give me a little more hold (if you are outdoors etc).
