Typical inexpensive work shoe quality
Initial overview of the shoes show a typical glue construction. No noticeable imperfections. The initial quality is as you would expect of Timberland Pro or any of the other big 4 work shoe makers (Chippewa, Red Wing, Danner and Wolverine) that offer an inexpensive safety toe shoe. I am not expecting the same quality as my other nearly $200 work boots and recommend that anyone thinking of purchasing these, remember, they aren’t $200 quality. Tried them on and although the laces are a bit short for my liking, they work. This appears as any non-waterproof footwear would.Fit - they fit exactly as my other size 12 safety toe work boots fit. Toe box is plenty big. My foot isn’t wide enough to be in a wide but just enough that a typical size shoe isn’t entirely comfortable at first. I’m old enough that my feet have overall stopped growing so the marginal room in the toes is adequate. Note, if you haven’t ever worn a safety toe boot/shoe, I could very well see how sizing these could be an issue.Finish - Giving 4 stars as these, out of the box, look very good. Both shoes were the exact same length. I will say the right shoe felt like the foot pad was built up a bit higher on the outside vs the left foot. I will be wearing them tonight and breaking them in.I will be, after the 30 day guarantee is up, applying a waterproofing sealer to help with the ‘water resistance’. This is only the 2nd pair of work footwear in 18 years that hasn’t been waterproof from the mfg. I didn’t have the sealer for my last pair 10 years ago.--UPDATE 8/20/18-- 6 Month ReviewAfter 6 months I can say that this is an excellent wearing shoe. Although I almost 100% wear this in a warehouse environment, they are not babied by any means. Only issue is that the laces are slick just enough that through the night the shoe will feel a little less than completely secure.—Update 2/24/19 — 1 yr reviewAs you can see from the pictures, these are tremendous shoes. Again, not babied but not abused either. Comfortable overall after 1 year and the only visible wear is inside the shoe when my heel goes in the shoeOverall, I will purchase again.

Good shoe but ...
My husband loved these shoes but as soon as he pulled the laces, the top hook popped off. Returning them.

Comfortable and light (1 year Update)
The best steel toe shoe I've bought for work so far. I've gone through maybe 7 pairs of steel toe shoes. I'm 25 now and fairly heavy for my weight. I usually tear up shoes really easy at work. I work 10 hours a day at the airport so I do a whole lot of walking, bending, standing, and heavy lifting. I'm very surprised how light these are. They almost seem lighter than my running shoes! Very breathable as well. A lot of room to wiggle my toes around. I just bought these so I couldn't say for sure how long these will last me.The last pair of shoes I had wore me down at the end of the day. Back hurting and feet aching to where you wanna go home and rest. Once I got off work after wearing these though I felt I had more energy to do more things afterwards. Surprisingly comfortable even without Dr. Scholls or whatever comfortable foot inserts. The look of them really makes you wonder if these are made for hiking because they have a lot of tread on them. These might be a little expensive for you, but I guarantee you get your moneys worth. I definitely recommend these if you do a lot of walking and standing. 5 stars. It's been over a month since I purchased these and they still feel brand new to me. I can definitely tell my back has improved and the girlfriend has noticed I'm not as grumpy when I get home so there's been improvement on both sides! I've noticed there's no wear at all inside the shoe and out (except for the bottom of the shoe of course). I also forgot to mention I'm on concrete all day so it's expected the bottoms will wear down a little more than usual. Overall if you've been browsing for a comfortable, breathable, light, and durable steel toe shoe these are it. BUY THEM! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!I am finally retiring these bad boys and reordering another pair. They lasted me a little over a year at work and I'm very impressed of how well the treading had lasted. I will still use these veteran shoes for other uses besides work related stuff. I'm highly impressed. Thank you Timberland!

Tough as nails, hard to beat.
I have been wearing these boots for about 9 months now. I work at a large cabinet company 5 - 6 days a week and about 50 - 60 hours a week. These boots are as tough as they come. I went through 2 pairs of wolverines in 6 months switching between the 2 pairs a few times a week. After 9 months of abuse these timberlands are still going strong but there says are numbered. Now I don't expect boots to last this Kong in my case but the outside of these are like new. I cleaned them last week and you wouldn't think they were older than a month old.The bad? Besides the soles which go on every pair of boots fairly quickly, I would say every 3 months. The only bad thing I can tell you about these is the last tabs on the top for the laces broke off. One about a month ago and the other a week later only on one boot. The other one is still good. I drilled a hole right where the tab was and if you looked at it you would think they came like that it blends in so well. The only other con is the back of the inside ( heel) has totally Fallin apart over the last month. It's just the leather now but still decently comfortable. With average use ( 40 hours a week) I'd say these could go up to 2 years. In my case of walking 6 - 12 miles a day and then working 8 - 12 hours a day 6 days a week. I would find it extremely hard to believe you could find a better pair of boots than the pro series timberland line. I have tried other companies and you do get what you pay for. I'll be buying pro series the rest of my life.
