Kid bike? Not so much.
First of all, the quality of this brake set is good for the price. I was trying to install it on my kid’s 16” coaster brake bike and it seems like a perfect set.Installation was easy but I need to shave the outer edge off the rear brake pads as the reach was a little bit short. Moreover, the rear cable was too long for a kid’s bike. However, the biggest shortcoming is that it requires quite a lot of strength to squeeze the brakes it is tiring even for an adult. I need to apply more than 10 lbs of force to stop a wheel. After installing it and seeing it fit perfectly on my son’s bike, I just can’t imagine how a 4 years old kid can squeeze the brakes. After all the effort to set it up, it is mostly for decoration now.

Great product for the price.
Easy installation. More than enough brake cable for a 26" Beach Cruiser. Only issue , the rear brake, had to flip the side calipers to make the brake pads reach the rim. The brake pads aren't the best, but roughing the pads with sandpaper, helped with stopping...will replace soon with better ones. Overall, I am happy with the brake set, just couldn't get use to the coaster brake that came on the bike. Great upgrade.

Overall a good replacement part
This is good product and give it five of five as long has you have proper expectations. For me I was replacing terrible stock breaks on kids bike, plastic levers and cheap pot metal parts for calipers. These are full metal levers and calipers and don't deform like the stock ones I replaced, they feel solid and tight. The bike went from stopping like a freight train to being able to leave skid marks on the pavement. Overall I would recommend and would get them again if I had a similar situation. One thing I would note is the pads are not great but definitely fine. I had a set of good pads I put on instead which gave more stopping power. For those that may not know, the metal gromit on the cable housing will pull off so u can resize the length to fit your bike, then press gromit back on and ur good.

Kid is happy👍😋
I'm am not a bike expert. My son's BMX bike had coaster brakes and a chewed up front hand brake. I was originally going to just replace the cable and pads/shoes.Saw this kit for a couple bucks more and decided to do the full monty: replace the entire front; add the rear.Kit arrived well packaged. The parts appear to be decent quality -- we're talking about a kid's bike, riding around the neighborhood... Not pro downhill racing or tour de france. It took me longer to figure out how to remove the grips from the handlebars than to install both brakes. Install is super easy. Be aware that there is a distinct front and rear part. (the front has the longer bolt). The only "customization" I had to do was to trim the rear cable sheath.Kid did a quick road test. Everything works. Everyone is happy 🤘We'll see how to they hold up. But I'm not expecting any issues.

Simple Stopping Solution
I used the front brake as part of an e-trike conversion for my wife - her folding trike's 20" front wheel had a Sturmey-Archer drum brake, but the Swytch wheel that I replaced it with has a motor instead. With no bosses for V brakes or cantilever brakes, and no mount for a disk caliper, I decided to try a side-pull caliper solution, since there is a hole at the top of the fork that was just being used as a fender & reflector mount. The caliper installed pretty quickly, and reaches around the fender easily. All I had to do was adjust the brake pad position to meet the rim. The trickiest part was getting the tension on the cable right - and extra pair of hands or a cable puller are very handy for that phase! The pads aren't very grippy - they need to be either broken in or mildly roughed up to grab the rim with less lever force, but the mechanism is quite solid!

Quality economy brakes that work best when time is taken to adjust them right
These brakes are almost certainly going to be used by a) amateur cyclists looking for an extended reach brake for their casual cruiser or b) modifying a child’s bike to handbrakes. I won’t bury the lede: these brakes are ideal for casual cyclists but they absolutely require the extra time needed to set correctly. Trouble is, most of us casual bikers are expecting a set-and-forget system since we don’t have the experience to do precision adjustment, nor do we want to spend the extra money at a bike shop. This, I believe, explains all the reviews mentioning how they are “too tight to pull” or “too loose and bend with use”. As an amateur cyclist, I can attest it is so very worthwhile to watch instructional videos on how to adjust side-pull brakes. Once properly dialed in — and believe me, the adjustments are rather counter-intuitive to the novice — these brakes are smooth, precise, and quiet. Absolutely ideal for anyone like myself who generally takes short to medium (less than 15 mile) excursions. Be prepared to use a torque wrench, specially bike tools, and maybe even another person lending a hand to get the best results. The kit comes with two brake calipers, cables with sheathing, end crimps, and hand levers. The included hand levers are small; great for a child’s hands but not so much for an adult. All other included materials are fine. What the kit doesn’t include are any instructions. Fortunately, there are plenty of YouTube tutorials to aid in installation. I personally found the side-pull brake adjustment videos by the channel “Park Tool” to be invaluable. For a reasonable cost upgrade, these may be the best value out there.

Looks great, easy to install on my sons dirt bike!
Not sure I can judge cable stretch as I’m not the rider if this bike. However there is plenty of cable for a 20” BMX bike. I trimmed the cables with a good set of vise grips, which usually have a wire cutter.I would recommend to this company to include the end caps or ferrules separately for the external black cable sheath as you will likely need to cut the cable to fit your bike. They do include the small aluminum anti fray caps for the cable. Make sure you use this part as cables always fray without it. Think overall, the whole system looks great. The black paint seems nice. My son is super happy, and it is a great way to teach kids how to get used to a front brake and how much better you can stop with it!
