DimplexFX20VE FX Series 2kW Downflow Heater c/w Pullcord

This has been used to replace an earlier model of this heater, installed in 1990. This newer version has the same 2kw output but with the added advantage of a 30 minute timer which automatically switches off the heater after 30 minutes. This option is enabled during installation, along with setting 1kw or 2kw heat output. This is changed inside the casing so isn't something you can easily switch back and forth on.It requires hard wiring, and isn't supplied with any cable so I needed a quick trip to the local DIY shop for a length of cable. This is connected to terminals inside the unit, and then the unit is placed over screws which need drilling into he wall. There's some DIY skills needed therefore - and of course the electrical element should be done by a qualified electrician.It works very well, heating up my bathroom by several degrees in a few minutes - proven by the themostat on the wall. At 2kw it uses a lot of electricity - but since it works so fast you don't need it on for long so overall I'd say it's very efficient and quite cost effective.

If your bathroom is not already wired for this you'll need a professional but if it is a replacement no bother. Instructions for wall mounting are clear and the fittings are included. Wiring it to an existing fused outlet is no more complicated than wiring a plug. You will need a drill and an array of cross head screwdrivers but that's about it. 20 minutes tops. I would recommend.

Installed two of these heaters in the safe areas of two bathrooms both relatively small rooms. I left them set to 1KW. They work well in providing that heat top up needed on cold mornings! They heat the space quickly and are simple to operate.

This is the fourth of these units I have purchased and installed for myself and family members. They are ideal for quickly getting cold bathrooms up to a nice temperature in the morning.One of the biggest selling points for me has always been the 30 minute cutoff time; no more leaving the house and then wondering "did I turn the heater off?" - and forget sometimes you will; I have indeed gone into the bathroom on more than one occasion and found the heater silent but with its light on, telling me (a) that I forgot to turn it off and (b) that it turned itself off for me.If it gets clogged up with fluff etc the overheat cutoff will operate, but maintenance to prevent this is easy - a quick suck with the hoover usually fixes things.I've marked this as easy to install but that does of course presuppose that you have the required electrical knowledge and infrastructure - you need a dedicated, fused power outlet to wire it into, you can't just plug it in, and you need to be aware of the regulations pertaining to distance from water sources etc. Those things aside any electrically competent DIYer could install this, following the supplied instructions (if you're unsure whether you're electrically competent, assume you aren't!)NB cable is not supplied, so you'll need to source that yourself.

Strong burst of heat for my cold damp bathroom. Love the fact that it switches off automatically after 30 minutes.
