French's Original Chili-O Seasoning Mix, 1.75 oz (Pack of 10)

Makes chili making quick and easy. A little bite to it, but not too much . Other folks can add their own hot sauce if they want fire.

I’m on a mission to find the best chili seasoning on the market. So far, this is the best mix yet. Not too spicy however, I added a small can of tomato past and 3 cans of water in addition to the package recipe. That may have toned down the spice a little. I loved it, had three bowls. My wife loved it, had 3 bowls. My 12 year old son said “it’s alright” then asked for seconds. He tends not to show too much emotion.

I've been a Chili-O girl since I was a teenager and that was many, many years ago. It was always the go-to for chili at home and it still is to this day. We have a fall picnic at our camp and I'm in charge of making the chili- and this is definitely my recipe. Kids and adults alike love it. Not too spicy, just perfect. Keep making it!

Yea......, I know all you Chili cooking experts, etc probably thinks my "review title" for this product is written by some "Chili-Making-Simpleton". That's ok by me...because..... EVERYONE...& I mean everyone loves my homemade Chili....through all the years of making Chili with diff spices, etc...I learned... after spending a small fortune on so many diff spices...that this simple packet of ingredients hits the 'sweet spot" of spice mixes for my highly loved recipe. It is not a fiery chili..nor a very mild batch I make--sort of in the middle---TIP-if when serving & some say they like a hot spicy chili--before you hand them a bowl....just add a very small sprinkle of red pepper in their individual bowl & stir it in--it works like magic every time, but only if needed! Also when cooking it... I only add some extra garlic powder ( not garlic salt ) & BTW-- I use plenty of GOOD Cumin...there is a lot of 'bad flavored' Cumin out there.... because I know--I experimented with diff brands of Cumin, too....until & again by chance I found one that was great tasting & by chance turned out to be another French's product------"French's "Cumin Powder". ..I could not believe it either, yet it is the best Cumin for my recipe. Oh, & I also use regular red kidney beans only..for good flavor & use some of the canned bean juice, but not all 2 cans of the bean juice.I use a packet of this exact particular type of the several diff types of French's Chili-O for each lb of ground chuck!!...I usually use 3 lbs of Chuck in my batch.....& it's not regular nor ground sirloin. It needs a little fat in the beef for flavoring.I have had my recipe memorized for many years & whenever I am making a batch...something strange happens....it seems like some of my friend & neighbors have ESP...or something...cause my doorbell & phone both mysteriously starts ringing! 😄...from one Chili guy to you other guys & gals who enjoy making/eating "a good bowl of Red"...have fun......& don't forget to share it.

I honestly cannot describe the flavor of this chili seasoning, without thinking it shares flavor notes, of the chili cheese burrito, from Taco Bell. I am all about using organic spices, and do it yourself home cooking, but these spices taste good. Just a mild flavored, but well seasoned blend of spices (you can add your own heat). Great balance of flavors, great value.

Expected product. There was one package (of 10) that leaked a bit of product. All envelopes appear to be heat sealed waay to close to edge causing that one to leak. Others OK but real close.
