SamsoniteTravel Sentry 3-Dial Combination Lock

I ordered two of these and one of them was set to combination 1-1-1 and the other one had 0-0-0, which threw me off a bit as I wasn’t able to open them at first because I didn’t realize how hard you need to pull to open them. But having that extra mechanism to make them hard to open even with the right combination makes them kind of safe also as it’s not easy to guess the combo by trying.

Just came back from my first trip using these. My luggage is always locked when on vacation so every time I need something from inside I have to unlock my luggage. No jams, sticky numbers or problems whatsoever..

Purchased for my wife. Works great after programming. After some research determined that the four little pictures are telling you to:1. Pull open the lock2. Use a pen or other object to press and hold small button below numbers3. Set dial to your combination while holding button in4. Release button while numbers are set where you want them. Close and check to make sure it opens at your combination and stays locked every where else.

I ordered these locks and 1 pair in one package locks.My first impression is that this is slightly larger than I've imagined. The size and weight may be greater than one usually expect for a traveler lock. The second concern is about the dial-operating system. Mechanical failure or forget about the digits may introduce a disaster at an unfamiliar location. The small ones only have a key and they are not dial-operated. I think both have advantages and disadvantages : key-operating lock may fail when you lose the key but you're free from memorizing the digits, while dial-operating lock may fail unless you forget the digits but you do not have to keep a key with you. Anyway, I would prefer the size and weight for the smaller locks over large ones. I feel they are significantly larger than I've expected.

It is hard to put a combination since it doesn’t have clear instructions. We have to google instructions, and then after we put a new combination it locked and never open again. We try calling Samsonite but after half and hour they couldn’t help either.
