Sauder Harbor View Dresser, Antiqued White finish

This dresser is very sturdy and is an excellent product for the price. It takes some time to put together (not quite as easy as some Ikea furniture I've assembled), but it wasn't that bad with a screwdriver and some elbow grease. The construction is particle board with a sticker-type surfacing, so you have to be careful about not nicking or scratching the surface, especially when putting it together. However, when I got it together, it was very strong and looked great. Lots of storage space; the cabinets were a unique touch for a dresser. The drawers have a bottom that's really just a thick cardboard, not cleared for more than 15 pounds. Don't plan on putting anything heavy in them.I'm writing this review partly to praise the seller, Target Decor & More. When I received the dresser, I saw that there was a large tear in the side of the box, that had penetrated the inner box. It looked from the outside as if the top of the dresser had been scratched. I contacted Target Decor & More to let them know that I needed to return it for a new one. I was contacted by their customer service within hours telling me that if I opened the package and gave them the part number, they'd ship me a replacement directly. When I opened the package, it turned out that only the cardboard backing had been scratched, and it was in a place where you couldn't see it anyway once it was put together. Although I didn't end up needing a replacement part, I was very impressed by their promptness and willingness to help me resolve the issue. This is something you don't see often in online retailers. I would buy from them again for this reason alone.

This a lush looking piece of furniture. It fits perfectly in my guestroom. Be aware it's very heavy. Weights over a 100 pounds. Make sure when you assemble to put sliders on the bottom of the legs so you push it easily around the room. It also takes longer to assemble because of the doors, door hinges and the drawers but the instructions are clear. The result are great. I like it a great deal.

Okay, I told myself I had to write a review if this part came in because other than the fact that the dresser is pretty and sturdy, the company has friendly and quick customer service. When the box arrived I noticed one part broke during shipping. I emailed the seller through Amazon giving them the part number and two pictures of the broken part. Within 24 hours I received an email back. They thanked me for letting them know and said they'd ship the part out right away. That was less than a week ago and I received the part today.One important thing to mention is the time and effort it took to put the dresser together. My boyfriend is very handy, with the knowledge of an engineer and a physics degree, but it still took him 3 hours to put together. He also used a drill for some parts to make it a little easier and faster. It came out wonderfully, but would have been much more time consuming and difficult for me, so just FYI.The other review wasn't up before I ordered this dresser so I knew I was taking a chance that the company may be horrendous in terms of product quality and customer service. I'm glad I took a chance. I'm using the dresser as a hutch in the dining room to store tupperware, mixing bowls, kitchen utensils, etc. We also have our toaster oven and KitchenAid mixer on top. So far, there are no issues with it being top heavy or causing instability, though the directions specifically say to put heaviest items on bottom to prevent it toppling over. I imagine that's just to save their butts in case anything ever happened, but I think you'd have to really try to knock it down to make that happen. It doesn't budge when I grab it and rock my hand back and forth. I suppose the real test will be when I try to run the KitchenAid on it, since it wasn't made for this purpose. I'll try to remember to add to my review after that, in case anyone's interested in using it as a hutch the way I am.I also chose this dresser because eventually we may have more counter space and cabinets so we won't need a hutch, and it can then be used as a dresser instead of being a waste of space.
