My family says I need a dog because I live alone. I don't want a pet. So I got "Slinky the Weiner Dog". He is the size of a miniature Dauchshund. The grand kids love him and have made up all kinds of stories about him. He stands on his own and is very firm. His "fur" is soft and silky.

So, let me tell you about the day a dachshund showed up on our doorstep—ordered by none other than our 6-year-old son via Alexa. Yes, you read that right. Our sweet, tech-savvy little boy had a moment of brilliance (or mischief?) and thought he was getting himself a real dog. Imagine his excitement when his “dashund” arrived and our utter confusion when we opened the box to find a lifelike stuffed animal.To his credit, this Melissa & Doug Dachshund is very realistic, so I guess we can’t blame him for being a little too optimistic about what Alexa can do. After a family meeting filled with laughter (and some stern lessons about not shopping without permission), we decided to let him keep it. And honestly? We have zero regrets!This stuffed dachshund is soft, well-made, and surprisingly durable, considering it’s been carried, hugged, and slept on daily. It’s now his best friend, and he sleeps with it every night, proudly declaring it’s “the best dashund ever.” Honestly, the stuffed dog has been far less maintenance than a real one—no vet bills, no barking, and it’s perfectly house-trained.Oh, and to top it all off, when we took a picture to commemorate his new “pet,” we realized our son had written all over himself with marker. So now we have a photo of him, his new dachshund, and a masterpiece drawn on his own arms and legs. I would have given it five stars except the nose is on crooked. I love it anyway and didn’t want to try to send it back since I’m disabled. I’m 81 and recently lost my 14-year-old dachshund. I can’t afford another one to keep me company so this will have to do. It looks just as pictured except for the crooked nose and it is very sturdy and should stand up to a lot if handling.

This dog comes in 2 sizes. I purchased the larger size one. He's very realistic looking. Super cute. We'll made. Nice fake fur. Cute ears. Short legs. Long snout. His chest is puffed out, so he wears a size medium in regular pet dog clothing. His limbs are stiff, so he's not easy to dress, so I bought this sweet red sweatshirt that has snaps. Excellent value for money. Totally giftable for any age person. Light weight enough for kids to carry around. His nose was made a bit crooked and also his mouth. Keep that in mind, I see it in some reviews. Coloring is great and just like a mini Dachshund. I definitely recommend this product.

We had a dachshund that passed several years ago. This little guy looks lifelike and just like him. He is not the same but sure is a lot less effort. If you are a critter lover he is a good substitute. The review asked for the user's age but it did not go up to 72.
