The Judith Blacklock's Encyclopedia of Flower Design

It’s a lil outdated in some of the photos, but the knowledge is on point, and some of the designs just stir creativity. Bought this book for my daughter who hopes to get into floral design as a potential business for herself! Plus, I just enjoyed learning from what I read at a friend’s house in her copy!

I really read this book a lot. I am in a garden club which I enjoy so much. Will be starting classes on Flower Design in next few months. I have only worked with real live flowers and plants. But the book gives you color schemes, placing of leaves, limbs and what vase or container fits for the best outcome. I am not creative but this gives me hope. Glad I purchased.

I have tried several books on flower design, and this is one of the best. Very understandable, easy to follow and clear. I am a beginner and it has helped me tremendously. Bought it toghether with "A Master Guide to the Art of Floral Design" by Alisa de Jong, and am very happy with both books, they complement each other well. The pictures are wonderful and they help to get your imagination going.

Absolutely beautiful book full of great instruction and photos. I have many floral design books and I can say this is at the top of my list! I am a designer and I have found a lot of helpful techniques explained clearly. I highly recommend this book!

This is an excellent reference book for anyone learning to create floral arrangements. The book covers all of the elements of design, as well as flower types and materials.

Excellent book with beautiful pictures and clear instructions. A real encyclopedia of information about flowers and flower design with lots of flower arrangement ideas.

This book is full of information. It discusses helpful techniques for creating floral designs as well as information about the flowers and the materials used in arrangements.

The contents of the book itself was just what I had been looking for with all the elements and principle of design explained in plain English. I wish I had bought this book while studying City & Guilds level 2 Floristry instead of another book that had been recommended at the time. I followed the advice of the previous reviewers as I needed a present for a friend. I was not disappointed. This is a super book. It is useful because it has all kinds of designs, not just huge displays which not everyone wants to make. There are simple methods to follow so designs can be tried out easily at home. I like the history of flower designs too which is presented interestingly with some historical photos. There are also large glossy pictures for just browsing. This book is an ideal present. I have never been very tempted to try out flower arranging myself but this flower design encyclopaedia is a real inspiration and has given even me some ideas.

Wonderful book packed full of the elements and principles of design in a really readable format. Beautiful pictures and full of learning for the beginner and experienced arrangers alike

I have many books written by Judith.Her method of teaching is very easy to follow.Everything I have seen in this book was taught to me in college over 2 years. I wish I had bought it before now. I have many floristry books from all the famous names, but for me Judith is the best.

I bought this book with big expectations. And this book didn't let me down. It's brilliant, indeed. There're loads of information with pictures - which makes easier for beginners like me - and very well explained. The ideas are gorgeous and easy to do.I would definitely recommend it!
