This one is a keeper (of small hands out of the toilet bowl)!

Short review: This is the best toilet seat lock I've tried (and I am ashamed to admit that we've tried a few now). It's easy to install, and secure.Details: We bought a few different toilet seat locks to keep our toddler's curiosity at bay, but a number of them require some form of modification to the seat itself, or the tank. While we weren't really against that, we were very concerned that the adhesives wouldn't hold if our kid really gave the seat a tug. (I'm not entirely sure this would hold up, either, but if he gets violent with it, the lock will open and not damage the rest of the toilet seat, anyway.)INSTALLATION: Pretty simple. You snap little spacers between what works as a sort of C-clamp around the inside of the toilet bowl, and this holds it in place. You can only uninstall it if you can get inside the toilet bowl in the first place, so the kid is powerless against it. One thing I will note is, I did run into an issue with one of our bowls, where not enough spacers were provided to make it as snug as I would have liked. However, it seemed reasonable enough that I didn't think it was going to come loose, and again, the mount is inside the bowl, so it's secure when latched, even if it's a little loose.EFFECTIVENESS: Well, I can say that it manages to bewilder and frustrate grown adults who have come to visit us, so I'm sure that it will cover the vast majority of children who use it. Once you know the trick (lifting up little levers on both sides of it simultaneously), it's very easy to open, so it hasn't bothered us in the slightest.Overall, all I can say is, we bought one, and liked it enough to buy another one for our other bathroom, and proceeded to rid ourselves of the other ones we've bought. This one's a keeper!

My 11-month old broke it easily, and hard to clean

I had this installed for a while for the adults to get used to it, and only recently has my son been old enough to pull up. Within a month of him interacting with it, it was broken beyond repair. Here is what is wrong with this product:- The only thing holding it on the toilet is an L-shaped piece of plastic that's about 1/8" thick. My 11-month old son yanked on it a few times and it broke, sending part of it down the toilet into our septic system, and making this whole thing useless.- The system of spacers they have to make it fit a variety of toilets also make it stick out pretty far and not lock as securely if you have a thinner walled toilet.- There are a LOT of little crevices and ribs on this product, which means it gets gross fast and is hard to clean. You basically can't clean it without taking it off and submerging/rinsing the whole thing. And to take it off the toilet you have to try to pry open a little plastic lever *inside the bowl* where it is grossest. Also, the ratchet piece goes in once and then can't be completely removed, and so there is no way to completely sanitize it. There was black stuff growing in there that I tried everything to clean, but since you can't take it apart and the pieces fit closely together, it's a smelly mildew haven. The only pros: before it broke it did prevent the lid from coming up (and stymied a few adults who were visiting). A three-year-old figured it out immediately, however.I'm not going to order a replacement. I'm going to try a different product, as the design flaws are significant.

Lid still lifts a little but worked great for us - very easy to install and remove

This worked well while we needed it. It was very easy to install (no tools necessary) and also easy enough to remove for cleaning or travel (but not so easy that my toddler could figure it out). When I traveled with my daughter, I took it off and took it with me so that I didn't have to worry about her getting into the toilet wherever we were. It did take someone else a few minutes to figure out how to open it so make sure to tell your guests if it is on. It's very easy you just lift the little levers and remove the lock but too complicated for a toddler. You can still lift the toilet lid a tiny bit with the lock on so if your child really wants to, she can probably still shove something in the toilet but it will take enough extra work that you should have to time to catch her before she flushes it.

Works exactly as advertised

After multiple iPhone dunks in various toilets around our house, as well as cloggings from who knows what (I REALLY don't want to know what was flushed) it was time to go hard core.As always, I read reviews for as many different products as I could find that do the same thing, and settled on buying three of these. The only criticism I saw was addressed by some smart user's suggestion to add some tacky material to the lip of the toilet bowl (like the stuff you line drawers with) if your lock slips (and only one of mine did, due to toilet design).Easily and quickly installed all three locks and waited for the gremlin to appear to see how he would react (and more importantly, if he could open or break it). As I sat watching from behind the door, I heard the pitter-patter of tiny, cloven feet approach the toilet...him thinking no one was around to see his evil dunking deeds. But lo...as the miniature, but amazingly dextrous hands went to open the toilet seat per usual...something held! It worked! IT WORKED! GLORY DAY IT HELD! I observed from the shadows as the expression on the would-be evil doer's face went from devilish grin to complete shock and surprise at this new and unfortunate (for him) development. He fiddled with it for a few seconds, head turned sideways like a puppy dog, with a puzzled look...then I guess it finally sunk it that once again he was being thwarted, and this was by design, so he gave up! YES!!Knocked off one star because this is cheeeeeeeeep plastic people. I'm actually shocked the 15 mo old did not just break it when he pulled on it. Seems like it would have just snapped, but nope. The house iPhones can sleep peacefully now.

Funcional

The media could not be loaded. Me sirvió muy bien para evitar que mis niños abran la tapa. Y para el precio me parece bien producto.

A must have for new parents

I had seen so many videos on the internet of kids playing in the toilet or putting toys in it, that I wanted to protect ours since our 1st born was walking early at 9 months and couldn't fully understand not to. When he grew up, we showed him how to open it, but his younger brother couldn't. My daughter is too young now, but when she starts to walk everywhere, we'll lock it again.I had to glue a chair leg protector on the top so that there wouldn't be a gap and so no fingers can get in between the seat, but that was no trouble at all.

Perfetto

Adattabile anche al mio wc (particolare), facilissimo da installare, utile e pratico. Il mio bimbo non riesce più ad aprire il wc perchè il sistema ha due sicurezze da sbloccare contemporaneamente. Consigliatissimo

Does the job perfectly

I'm really pleased with this. Having read a few reviews we decided to go for this instead of a cheaper one with adhesive bits. This was really quick and easy to fit (apparently), it stops little people from opening the loo lid (as you'd hope), it is easy to open and close and can be left unlocked if desired.
