Money over time!
The he brush bar on the Dyson 33 unit would not turn. I was advised by a vacuum repair technician to get that part instead disassembling the clutch to access belts. The vacuum now works!!!Disassembling the clutch presented too many opportunities for failure. Great decision.

Saved my Dyson 15yr old Dyson from the landfill!!
Saved my 15yr old Dyson from the landfill! With a little help from YouTube, I was able to get the vac up and running again in minutes. I was happy to see that the clutch looked identical to original (minus the busted bearing). The part fit and function just as expected.

Yes, it works!
This is a challenge to install, but worth it. I also recommend to get the tool for the belt installation. I also recommend to change both filters and the roller. If you want you can repair your old clutch by turning the clutch plate over and installing new belts. My unit was 18 years old. I installed my new clutch and the filters and roller. It works like a new machine. I rebuilt the old one for fun and I have a spare. There are many many YouTube videos for this. To install the new roller belt you should get the tool.I also recommend to do a thorough washing the parts and allow a day to dry. Good Luck!

Easy installation with help of YouTube
Perfect fit. Watched YouTube videos on how to and how not to remove and replace. After that I did the installation without the "Specialty" tool. I used the old cut off beater bar belt and vise grips to pull the new beater bar belt on.

Dc33 animal, fixed my problem
Brush roll was spinning slow and I could stop it with my hand easily. Did some research, watched some videos about the install, and bought this clutch assembly. As pictured the old belt was very worn. Particularly due to a mass buildup of hair I had to clean out. The new belts are strong which is good but makes it challenging to instal. If you have the tools and the will, you can get it done. I did not buy the tool specifically for this job. I used leverage from screwdrivers to work it on. It was tough but this part was an exact fit and now the brush is strong and unstopable!

Vacuum lasted 17 years, now it will last 17 more
Short Answer: If your Dyson is making a grinding noise when activating the brush bar, get this full clutch assembly with belts for replacement and it's not a bad idea to replace the brush bar too so it spins more easily. Belt replacement isn't worth it alone and you'll have a freshly refurbished Dyson for less effort. The brush bar on my Dyson DC14 stopped spinning and made terrible grinding noises. Even after cleaning it, it was barely moving. I ordered replacement belts for the brush bar and clutch and used a YouTube video to learn how to take it apart. The DC14 model is not for the beginner or non-mechanically inclined and you'll need a set of dedicated torx wrenches (single sizes, T15 & T10 on 3-4" shaft, not the interchangeable bits since the holes to the screws are deep and narrow). After a couple of hours, I finally got the very tight belts where they needed to go and everything reassembled. Note, getting the replacement belt for the brush bar inside the clutch mechanism requires disassembling the clutch mechanism, which contains a big spring and ball bearings. They will burst apart and ball bearings will fly. You will swear. Do this away from children.I tested it and nothing at all moved. I went to bed defeated and let it sit for a few days, sadly online shopping for a new Dyson. However, a couple of days later I plugged it in hoping the time would let the belts stretch a little. It worked! for 30 seconds... then the drive shaft burned the new belt in half. More swearing. My final attempt at saving over $500 buying a new Dyson was this part, the full clutch assembly with two new belts. Having taken it apart the first time, this swap was less than 30 minutes. After getting everything reattached and the covers back on, I started it up. Worked like new! I tested the longevity and vacuumed the whole house. It's got another 17 years left in it.

Get the tool to stretch the belt. Your knuckles will thank you.
Removing the old and installing the new clutch assembly was easy... until it was time to insert the beater bar. Highly recommend getting one of these https://www.amazon.com/Dyson-Vacuum-Cleaner-Lifter-Changing/dp/B008MM45O0 to make the job easier.I got it done without the tool, but there was much cursing and scraped knuckles. Picture shows the new/old clutches - the belt on the old clutch is significantly stretched. The new belts are almost invisible in comparison.
