Dense Shade Seed 1.4kg

Bought the seed and planted it in mid May. By mid July it was nice lush and thick. Started sprouting after about 12 days. Has a beautiful dark green color. Must keep the seed moist!! I watered 4 times a day for no more than 5-10 mins. Temp of the ground was about 50-60 degrees F when I planted. Make sure you have fertile soil as well. Use a good starter fertilizer.

Our property abuts powerline woods where there are large trees right up to the property line, in addition to one large Maple of ours and a long row of 12' Arborvitae that shade twenty feet of our lawn in late afternoon. I have seeded these shaded areas multiple times in the last 20 years using quality products (Scotts, Pennington, etc.) with little to no success; this year I went with the JG Dense Shade and couldn't be happier. It takes a bit longer to germinate (it's in shade, after all)(about 12 to 14 days), but it's all come up, is filling in nicely, and will continue to get thicker as individual grass plants grow. These shady areas are now the best-looking areas of my lawn.

I have a very challenging backyard. It is surrounded by mature trees that allow any particular spot only an hour or two of sunlight each day. And we have squirrels that provide us with endless hours of amusement, but like to dig up the seedlings. I have tried various name brands of deep-shade mixes from the big box stores with almost no success. Often they have not even germinated. This mixture has not been a miracle, but it has performed remarkably better than any other brands. It germinates more consistently and provides a relatively even cover, even if a bit thin because of the shade and squirrel scratching.
