Good Quality
Nice durable ratchet. Used this to break lug nuts for tire rotation on my truck, worked great.

Heavy Duty
Haven’t really challenged this ratchet with anything bigger than 5/8 bolt yet but it has exceeded expectations. Heavyweight, and course ratcheting teeth lead me to think it could handle a good bit of torque.

This Proto Rwtchet.is built like a tank.
This ratchet.is beyond heavy duty and is quality. This.ratchet will not.fail like high tooth count.ratchets. I have one of.these ratchets in all the cars I have for.chaning out flat tires because it won't fail in time of need. I have put a lot of torque on this ratchet amd it can handle it. You can"t go wrong for the price and dependability. Highly recommend.

Rough around the edges
I bought this ratchet because it was proto. I have a lot of tools and proto had been a previous been known to me as a good quality tool. This ratchet is less refined and coast toothed than many other ones I have. The knurl on the handle is very rough. That being said I do belive it will wear in and I also believe this ratchet will last. While it is a less refined tool than I am used to for the price of a large 1/2 drive I'll be satisfied.

The Excalibur of Ratchets
This is the perfect all-around 1/2” ratchet. If you don’t have a huge arsenal of tools, and you need a 1/2” ratchet that can handle a wide spectrum of tasks, this is your ticket. This is ideal for the larger hardware - brake mounting bolts, ball joints, body mounting bolts, engine mounts, control arms, pulley bolts, manifold bolts, etc. It’s not exactly a breaker bar, but the mechanism is really stout and it’s long handle will easily convince those rusty nuts to submit to your will. There’s also something to be said about the value for your money. An American made, life-long tool for well under $100? I’ll take two, please.Pro tip: take the head apart and grease the mechanism - it really smooths this thing out and makes it a pleasure to use.

Beast of a ratchet that sounds like a roller coaster!
I bought this ratchet because it has been in production since the 1930s and nothing about it has been changed. It's still made entirely in the USA with a lifetime warranty and has a publicly available internal rebuild kit.The ratchet is dual pawl with single tooth engagement in either direction; each pawl is simply a rectangular shaped piece of steel that engages the teeth on the gear wheel (one edge of the pawl fits between two teeth of the gear). This beast of a ratchet sounds exactly like a roller coaster cranking up a hill for its first big drop, very industrial, I love it.So far, I have used this ratchet to loosen/tighten the lug-nuts on my cars for tire rotations and other general automotive maintenance and it is a bull of a tool. The knurled handle provides a massive amount of grip and the steel is solid, making easy work of the lug-nuts.I absolutely recommend this ratchet, as it is a much stronger design over the modern high tooth count ratchets because it's large gearwheel and pawls can handle much higher levels of torque compared to the smaller gearwheels and teeth of the high tooth ratchets.
