Wayne 56395 Switch Repair Kit for CDU, SPF & SSPF

We bought this to replace a broken sump pump switch. We were not sure it would work because of different item numbers. But it has worked out great!!

I had a problem with my gfci outlets tripping when the sump pump turned on. This switch brought my 7 year old Wayne pump back to working with any gfci outlets around my home. Easy to install and saved my home from being underwater.

Easy swap

The kit was an exact replacement control/solenoid unit. However, the gasket to seal the top is nowhere near the right size. I could stretch it to fit, but it won’t stay in place. You can see in the photo that it’s too small. I’m just hoping my old gasket is ok. I had water in the cap so I’m concerned about getting this sealed up. Wayne doesn’t give a part number for the gasket that I’ve found so you either buy this kit for ~$30 or you buy the kit that’s got the whole lid and cord with it for almost $70. If you need the gasket I recommend you find a different product.

My pump was not listed for this switch. I have a little giant sump pump. The switch fit, the o ring didn't. Reused my old one and it's fixed.

Normally open float switch, fits perfectly, installs easily in only 3-5 minutes.

I’m not real handy on electricity especially with water. I installed this and has been working fine.

The switch work awesome

Although it is a bit of a pain that the switch in my 1/2 hp Ridgid pump (SP500) died within two years, it is very nice to find the exact part available on-line for a decent price. Home Depot didn't carry the part, nor could I find it ready to hand anywhere else in Ottawa, but BIC Warehouse did. On-line commerce is keeping my basement dry.April 4, 2016 UpdateThis replacement switch has now died. Not very impressed with the quality of the original design, parts or their replacement. I went back to a ball float switch. These switches last longer and are readily replaceable. Thus ends my experiment with short-throw vertical float switches.

Easy replacement of switch. Quick to do and pretty simple...just need a screw driver for work on the pump.

Glad to have this as a spare part for future planned maintenance. Switch is normal failure device, plan to replace every 5 years.
