Street Fighter: The Official Street Food Cookbook

Great Variety, but Pretty uncharacteristically fancy for "Street Food"
Great Variety of foods from different lands. Sometimes the associated characters or recipe names have entirely forced connections. The stories for each recipe are usually very cringey, but whatever. The ingredients called for do not exactly meet many standards of "street food", which this book aims for. The recipes end up being "nice restaurant" versions of them instead. You will certainly need a specialty store for most of the recipes, which is understandable, but will likely need more ingredients than is traditionally actually used for some of them. I can't speak for every recipe of course, as I am not too familiar with how some of the recipes are made traditionally, and some of them I want to say are spot on, but many that I am very familiar with are asking for a very complex and involved variant.Useful section near the beginning detailing what some of the traditional ingredients used in the book are, which is nice. The images are large, gorgeous, and plentiful. All in all, great variety, but it might cost you an extra trip, an extra few bucks, and extra time to make even a side dish.

Surprisingly good!
This came into my recommended one day and I thought “You know what? I grew up with Street Fighter, and I love cooking, so why not? Even if it’s no good, it’ll be fun to look through.” To my surprise, it’s actually really well made!First, it starts with a glossary of some of the more exotic spices and ingredients, like Italian mortadella and Japanese nori. Many of the entries explain where you can find the ingredient and how to store it.After that, you’re treated to a region-by-region collection of international foods, with an emphasis on street food (of course). Everything from a simple milkshake to Brazilian feijoada. The recipes all feature pictures, with a little info box containing prep and cooking time estimates, serving sizes, dietary notes, and a rough guess as to the difficulty of the dish. Some of the more complex dishes will be split into sections, i.e. how to prepare different sauces and ingredients before bringing it all together. As for the recipes themselves, they’re actually really solid! The smash burgers in particular were a big hit with my family!I think the only turn off for some may be that since it’s an international cuisine cookbook, some of the ingredients are hard to get. For example, I had to special order two different kinds of sweet rice to make the dango recipe, which was kind of pricey. If you’re looking for just simple everyday recipes, you’ll probably want to pass on this one. That said, if you’re more the adventurous type—or just a fan of Street Fighter— I’d say it’s absolutely worth it!

Absolutely Delicious! Except for that one recipe...
I have loved everything I made from this cookbook!Everything except one recipe: The Matcha Icecream with Adzuki Beans. Tried this one, and my entire family (me included) thought it was pretty terrible. It was pretty bad. Tasted bland and the texture was off. Probably best to avoid that one or just make real matcha icecream with some white chocolate chips on top. Forget the beans. They were the worst part of it.Otherwise, I have tried several other recipes in this cookbook, and they've all been amazing. Especially the Coxinhas and Oyakodon. Those were the best.

The book is good but the shipping sucks
This is probably one of the longer reviews I've done but I wanted to call out how bad shipping is when it comes to Amazon. It's a hit or miss; sometimes you get decent shipping, other times you get what happened picture-related.But besides wacky shipping, the book is decent. There's a good variety of recipes, some kind of weird (like Ken's) while others make sense (like Ryu and Onigiri.) What I like the most is that just about anyone can use the recipes in this book. It explains the terms really well (such as what Dashi stock is,) and gives details if you need dietary needs. A lot of them are basic (like a bacon sandwich) but it's still good in case you want to learn how to cook (or a poor college student. Or just...lazy.)I give the book a 5/5.

a neat collection of recipes from around the world
lots of cool recipes with easy to understand instructions, however a short summary of what the dish is and what it's origins are would have been appreciated! was pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of cocktails, can't wait to try them out

Round One ... FOOD!
Lots of neat recipes combined with Sakura's commentary, this cookbook is both an entertaining read and a source of delicious items to try.

Really cool cook
My buddy is a huge street fighter fan and he loves food. I got him this and I I bet he’s gonna love it. I took a look at it and it’s good quality and feels like it’s actually durable. I might even get one for myself

Good food, good street fighter fanservice
If you like cookbooks and street fighter for its colourful cast, you'll like this. If you don't like experimenting in the kitchen, I'd give it a pass.It shows you a lot of fun recipes, from simple sandwiches and cocktails to some of the hardesr recipes I've seen. It's as colorful and diverse as the street fighter cast.

Surprisingly awesome!
I wasn’t expecting much when I ordered the book. However being a street fighter series fan, I had to get it as a collectable. Surprisingly, recipes are great and easy and also categorized by countries!
