Turbo by coastal twinkle ball motion activated

Needed a replacement for ball track and could only find this light up ball, not the original type. Cat loves it though and now he has 2 balls for his track, because I found the other one under the couch 🛋️ lol.

Now, they LOVE this ball rolling around the Turbo Scratcher! The flashing light inside this ball stokes their curiosity and playfulness even more than a solid ball does. I do wish that Bergan also made a version of the StarChaser twinkle ball that has a bell inside it since my cats also like rolling the balls that have a jingle-bell in them. This flashing ball is not only fun for kitties when used in Bergan products, but if your cats like chasing balls across carpet or flooring (e.g. kitty soccer), this works well in that play mode too. This ball also fits inside the  Bergan Turbo Track Cat Toy , so if you have either or both Bergan Turbo cat toys, you can use these twinkle balls inside both of them.The flashing light inside the ball is motion-activated. Once the ball starts rolling, either rolling on the Turbo Scratcher's circular track or just free-rolling across a floor, the light inside the ball instantly starts flashing, turning the colored ball into a disco ball. The flashing then slows down as the ball stops rolling. Both of my cats have become conditioned like Pavlov's dogs with this effect!! Once they see that the ball has both stopped rolling and stopped flashing on the Turbo Scratcher, they give the StarChaser twinkle ball a furious whack with their paw to start the disco lighting again. Sometimes, one cat sits on one side of the Turbo Scratcher and the other cat sits on the other side, and they take turns whacking the ball around in its circular track. If you are annoyed by this lighting effect at night when you are asleep, you can always place this toy away from the bedroom. But since I am not a light sleeper, neither the sound of the ball speeding around on the Turbo Scratcher nor the flashing light bothers me; I think it is all very cute.You activate the battery-operated flashing effect by pulling out a paper tab that has been inserted into each new ball. Unfortunately, the battery that is inside the ball is not user-replaceable, so eventually the ball does stop flashing and just becomes a regular play ball. But the built-in battery does seem to have quite a long lifespan and keeps flashing for many months.I always keep several of these StarChaser balls around the house, both to use on the Turbo Scratcher and to also let the cats roll it across carpet and floors. At night, it is pretty cool to see my cats chasing the flashing blur of color across a dark room! A great crowd-pleaser, for both kitties and humans alike!I also have the  Catit Design Senses Play Circuit, Original  and  Catit Design Senses Speed Circuit , which both involve chasing a ball inside a covered track, similar to the Bergan Turbo track toys. But these Bergan twinkle balls unfortunately are too big to freely roll along the tracks of the Catit Play Circuit and Speed Circuit tracks if you leave the blue-colored peek-a-boo covers on the Catit tracks. If you remove the peek-a-boo covers on the Catit tracks, these Bergan twinkle balls can then roll along the tracks, but the blue peek-a-boo covers both function to entice a cat's hunting instincts and the covers also keep the balls from getting knocked out of the Catit tracks and rolling away. The Bergan Turbo toys use a track that also prevents its larger-sized ball from getting knocked out of its track. Catit has a similar motion-activated flashing ball for use in its two Play Circuit and Speed Circuit tracks:  Catit Design Senses Illuminated Ball - 2-Pack . But the Bergan and Catit motion-activated flashing balls are really not interchangeable between both brands of toys. The bigger Bergan ball will not fit inside the Catit track unless you remove the tracks' covers, and then the balls can be knocked out of the track. The smaller Catit balls can fit inside the Bergan tracks, but they will not securely stay inside the Bergan track and can be knocked out.

This ball is for this scratcher:  Bergan Turbo Scratcher Cat Toy, Colors May Vary  in case you were wondering.Like the tittle says, my cats love this ball, I had to buy a new one, because the freaking cats got the original out of the scratcher and I have no clue where it is...anyway, so far this new ball is doing its job, it lights up as it moves and keeps the cats happy and playing for hours (on and off).Upon inspection however, I can see the ball is a bit fragile; because it lighst up, it can't be 100% solid, the electrical components had to placed inside of it. So if you have a dog, keep him/her from this ball, because I don't think it would survive one bite. Other than that, this is a very good purchase, keeps the cats happy and busy. I have read complaints about the battery dying out and not being able to replace it. This is true, there's no way to replace the battery, but I can see why; first of all, if we were able to change the battery this means the ball would have to come apart and have a latch inside to lock it back together, but at the same time, cats are not exactly careful, so it could easily come apart while they play, leaving toxic electrics laying around; second of all, Bergan would lose money, if the battery could be changed, they could not sell any more balls, unless the ball breaks.Anyway, this is still a 5 star product, its sturdiness is not as reliable as the original, but for good reason. The ball will last if kept where it is supossed to be and even rolling around the house; the battery will eventually die, but the ball will keep rolling. The original did not light up at all, so I know the cats will still enjoy this one even if the lights go out.

I don’t recommend this. I looked at all the instructions (online, none included), but couldn’t figure out why this wasn’t working well. It’s a decent toy that attaches to the turbo scratcher in a sturdy way, but that’s it for the positives.First off, it doesn’t open. I couldn’t find any instructions on opening it, I couldn’t find any indications of internal snaps or something to bend or squeeze out of the way. I tried a bunch of methods, but from what I could see, I had to bend both sides of one of the semi-hemispherical halves of the ball inside by nearly an either of an inch. I applied a lot of force trying to do this, but stopped short of where I thought it would crack and collapse in my hands.Then I tried just stuffing treats and dry food in one of the holes. This works, although it’s tedious, annoying, and messy. You have to hold the opposite hole closed and funnel it in with your hands. Then, keep holding both holes closed while you mount it on its bracket. Finally, release it and watch as it pours all your work out the bottom onto the disk. Our cat doesn’t even have to spin it - she just eats and then more pours out to replace it. I’d rather use a bowl.If this didn’t mount nicely on the disk and work as a regular spinning toy, I would rate this 1 star. Don’t buy this if you want a feeder toy.

I bought this to put in a wooden activity box (flat with cut outs on top and side) I made for my cats to play with. I put this (and a couple other balls) in the box for them to bat around and because it lights up with a red light and blinks and so of course they're more drawn to it, especially in the dark or at night. They also get this ball out of the box and play with it off and on on both the carpeted and linoleum floors. It seems to be quite sturdy and so far it's working as well as when I bought it weeks past. Would purchase again.

My cat adores this treat dispenser. We use it for her daily "crunchies" and like how it keeps her entertained and active. (And forces her to eat more slowly.)

The quality of the cardboard seems to have changed.The cardboard broke down very quickly and needed replacement. Likely will purchase a different one since the replacements are more expensive for this circular scratching toy

When I got my twinkle ball to replace a ball that was lost with the Bergan Turbo Scratcher it worked for a couple seconds, I thought, WOW, that was a waste of money. But after a few minutes with one of the cats batting it around it started working and has now worked perfectly for almost 2 months.I'm not sure if they would be just as amused with a regular ball as opposed to the twinkle one but this was what was available. My problem is they tear up that cardboard in no time and it's expensive to replace.UPDATE: April/15. The lights just went out. Enjoyable, but I'm not replacing as spending enough on the cardboard refills.UPDATE: May 27/15 Actually the lights came back on about one week after leaving the April/15 update. And it's still working fine. Magic, I guess.

Used to be able to order this bowl for my cat who loves it so very much like shi adore's ad for like $6 not sure where the dollars or a battery that's included that the can't replace became a $30 toy.

I ordered this as a replacement ball for my cat’s starchaser toy. He loves playing with this ball.
