Q: On question 2 you say that the top shelf is 72" I am confused. THe picture shows the width being 72 with the side shelf on the outside true?

The dimensions of the top shelf are 48"W x 18"D. The overall width would be 72" if you use the wider configuration of this shelving.

Top shelf is. If your layout of shelves is like what the pictures shows. Your width is going to be approximately 72" wide. If your shelf layout is going to be different it's going to be different.I had this for my dorm, it's worth the purchase. Just don't lose any of the pieces.

Q: What is the weight of the item while boxed? Parcel pick up on campus is a ways away. Will it require the football team to carry?

Hello, the weight when boxed is about 37 lbs. One person may be able to carry the box, put two people would be ideal for an easier time.
