"Dure" does not mean "durable"

This a nice gloves, well-fitting, and well-padded. The tingling I used to get in my hand when using thinner gloves (Giro Bravos) no longer occurs with these gloves.Unfortunately, these gloves are not very durable. After wearing them on a half-dozen daylong rides, and before washing them for the first time, the fabric around the gel pads has already begun to come apart on both hands in different locations.Giro is replacing the gloves under warranty (and is doing so with absolutely no hassle, to their credit), but I suspect the next pair will be just as fragile.

EXCELLENT GLOVES

Giro definitely covered everything I look for in cycling gloves with this pair. They have much more gel padding (in more places) than most gloves which makes for excellent shock absorption, some may not need nor appreciate this but I would rather not have my hands stinging after 20 miles of riding on sketchy roads. They fit beautifully, the material is comfortable and seems to breathe well - I've never noticed my hands getting too warm or sweating excessively so I'm guessing a moisture wicking fabric is used. These also have the flap sewn in on the back of the ring and middle finger to allow you to pull the gloves off without difficulty, I simply do not understand how this is not a standard on all cycling gloves.

My Favorite Cycling Gloves

These are my 2nd pair of State Dure gloves, and until I see something better I'll be back for more. These are comfortable and durable- my other pair still in excellent condition after a full season of use. I'm buying these now because as the summer season passes, these become more difficult to find in my size and the desired color of black/red. I cycle in a hot and humid climate, and my hands get soaked with perspiration. What I like about these gloves is that even after getting wet and repeated machine washings, they maintain their size, shape and appearance. The design of these gloves is excellent, with Giro's super gel padding in the critical locations on my palm- my thumb pad and over the ulnar nerve area. This makes a long ride comfortable minimizing the pressure and numbness experienced with lesser gloves. Other desirable details include: backs are made of a breathable mesh to allow for evaporation of moisture while protecting your hands from the sun, and the palms are covered in a soft synthetic suede that is both comfortable and durable. The wrist opening has an adjustable velcro closure, important for people like me that have longer and narrower hands, and there are tabs both on the inside of the wrist opening and on the two middle finger openings making fitting and removal a cinch, especially once your hands are sweaty.

Great support, great fit

I bought two pairs of these gloves in the same size but in different colors - one pair for me, and one for my dad. I ride a casual fold-up bicycle, and my dad rides expensive road bikes in a group, so he and I use these gloves for vastly different purposes. We both love them. My dad, who has gone through tons of gloves from multiple brands over the past couple decades, says that he noticed these gloves help reduce the pain he sometimes gets in his neck from riding on rough roads. The padding on these gloves is placed in just the right position for our hands, such that it provides great support without making it awkward to hold onto the handle bars. They just feel great in all areas. Whenever my dad inevitably wears down his pair, I'll order them again.

Poor Workmanship, Won’t Last! Don’t Buy!

Contrary to the brand recognition and long history of quality, these gloves feature abysmal workmanship. After the 2nd time wearing it, the finger holes on the right hand glove began showing signs of unraveling seems. Then on the 3rd time, the left hand glove started showing the same. Mind you, I have lean fingers too.Do not waste your money, time or trouble. These are being returned. Too bad because this brand used to represent top notch. Gone are those days

These gloves are not for serious riders

I've been riding and racing bicycles for 30+ years and have never come across bike gloves that make my hands go numb as quickly as do these Giro Strada Dure. Being a serious rider, the reason may be that I ride with my hands in the drops. The pads on these gloves are placed for riders who ride with their hands on top of the bars or on the brake hoods. With my hands in the drops, my fingers go numb within 20 minutes. If you are a serious rider, avoid these gloves. If you are a recreational rider they may be OK. These gloves have one other flaw that will affect everyone. The Velcro tab is much to small to get a secure fit. I found that after about 3 months of regular use, the tiny Velcro tab no longer has much holding power.

Good gloves, they run large.

These are great cycling gloves, they have gel padding exactly where you want it for riding a road bike with drops. I did have to exchange them for a smaller size. All my work gloves and other cycling gloves are mediums, and fit tightly. I ordered a medium in the Giro and I felt like I was wearing snow gloves. The small is even still a bit big around the thumb, but the rest of the fit is OK. So I would recommend going down one size from the normal road bike gloves you wear.

Great gloves for a fair price.

It is a lot more difficult to find cycling gloves that off the kind of cushioning and support I like. With these gloves from Giro I think I have finally found the right ones. They have ample padding in all the right places, and I appreciate the pulls on the middle fingers to help take them off when I'm done with my ride.

Excellent protection for ulnar nerve

Bought these as I previously had some ulnar nerve entrapment issues in my hand after a thousand mile cycle across Australia’s Nullarbor.I don’t cycle a huge amount in the UK and when I do I tend to put a bit too much weight on my handlebars. These gloves really have helped protect my previously compressed ulnar nerve on my long morning training rides. The gel padding is the perfect thickness and placement to protect the vulnerable channel in near the wrist where the ulnar nerve runs into the hand. This makes these gloves great for any cyclists who’s riding posture can sometimes be less than optimum. The gloves are also very nice quality and unlike some others I’ve had they don’t shrink when they’re dried out after being soaked in the rain.

Stitching not up to quality level.

When I received these gloves in June, I was happy with the level of padding on the palms and the fit was great. Over the last two months I have found that the stitching on the fingers is coming undone and this is not something I would expect of a pair of cycling gloves at this price point. Whilst the padding is still of a decent quality, I feel that I will need to replace these gloves sooner rather than later. Maybe worth looking for a higher quality pair of gloves.

Good fit and great padding, but stitching failure.

These gloves look great and provide additional visibility for a cyclist. Padding is much better than other gloves I've owned and hopefully this will help reduce numb hands. Recommended.UPDATE: After my 5th ride, the stitching on the index finger came undone. Such as pity as I was hoping the Giro brand would be better quality and everything else about these gloves are great. No return option that I can find.

Super comfy

No more sore hands after long rides. Impact-absorbing, well-made gloves.Covered a few hundred miles already and as good as new.

Premium Price Not Quality.

Worn the gloves on 4x 20mile cycles this week and they are already splitting at the seam. Definitely would not recommend. They have the price tag which suggests they're decent and even good reviews from third party sites. Maybe I was unlucky but hands on experience where you expect a pair of gloves to last a season? I mean the muddy fox gloves I got from sports direct have held up better and they were a fiver.
