The media could not be loaded.  Thanks for designing a product that also works perfectly for verifying ice depths on small ponds and lakes!!!Probably way over-priced for my use case but WAY faster than my cordless drill (see video). Unbelievable!! I've tried and lost every model of drill bit ($19.99/ea) over the years causing me and the family major frustration. A traditional drill bit cools and contracts instantly once it hits the water and falls into the abyss forever!!! Drills are slow no matter what bit you use!This ice screw works great if you learn to use properly. It won't fall into the lake like a drill bit!!! The key is getting the drill seated 1" into the ice and aligned perpendicular to surface. It appears to have a very sharp carbide tip fused to the aluminum down rod enabling it to breeze through the ice like a Jedi sword. The bit will extend a maximum depth of 8.25” before bottoming out on the handle. Plenty of depth to verify my needs.Caution: See your State DNR website for safe ice depths for foot traffic, 4-wheelers, cars, and trucks. A user needs to perform multiple tests and train themselves with this technique.

Die Black Diamond ULTRALIGHT ICE SCREW aus eloxierten Alu mit Edelstahl Schneidkopf ist bei gleicher Festigkeit (10 kN) deutlich leichter als die bewährte Black Diamond Express Ice Screw. Die bissige Eisschraube lässt sich mit einer Hand ansetzen und mit der genial einrastenden Kurbel leicht eindrehen. Nachteil ist, dass sie nicht so oft nachgeschliffen werden kann wie die Express, die komplett aus Edelstahl ist. Hier wäre es angemessen, den Schneidkopf ein paar mm länger zu machen.Wir haben bei Expeditionen immer ein paar Eisschrauben zur Sicherheit für Auf- und Abseilpassagen oder um auf Seen oder Meereis mit wenig Schneeauflage Ausrüstung und Zelte zu verspannen. 16 cm ist die gebräuchlichste Länge. 13 cm erfordert solides Eis.
