The only thing is the hat, being shipped it was very misshapen and no matter how I put it on my head I can't get it to look right. The rest of the costume comes exactly as picture but the hat is not exactly. The ruffling and "bow" it was ribbon I had to try to shape into a bow, and where the hat is cinced together I can't get it to look like the picture. Other then that costume is great but the skirt is a little short definitely recommend a petticot underneath or shorts otherwise your booty will be what's showing instead of the pirates lol

I bought a size medium and it fit absolutely perfect! I can’t wait to wear it to the Halloween party! Best part about it is it was $20.00 cheaper than the Halloween store. I will definitely buy California Costumes brand again!

I really love this costume, the colors are beautiful and it’s very flattering on. Of course as other reviewers said the petticoat underneath is a must as it’s very short. I ordered a large and for reference I’m 5’8” and 180 pounds. It fit very well. A little too large in the back but can be fixed by tying the halter a little tighter. I added some boots that I already had, a black petticoat and some fishnets and the result was gorgeous. The hat did come smushed but I just reshaped it and put it on one of my wig heads and it reshaped it well! It wasn’t great quality as it is fabric but I’m still gonna wear it. Oh and pro tip if you have big thighs like me don’t try to put it on by stepping into it. It’s a tight squeeze lol. It went on just fine over my head. Overall it’s a great costume and I highly recommend.

It is comfortable and looks amazing, but I wear a medium and bought a large just to make sure. It was very short. I wore shorts under it because my butt was showing. I'd wear spanks or yoga shorts...just an FYI

I had looked for months, online and in our local costume store for a pirate costume that wasn't matronly and that didn't give the wrong impression, as wench wasn't what I was going for. I knew right away when I ordered this, that this would require some quality black tights/leggings underneath it, which really looked awesome, as the ones I chose were more like thin pants, making the dress part look like a shirt/skirt. I had to tighten it up the gold straps you see in the middle, made sure they were put through all the holes (were not upon arrival) and in tightening, had a lot left, that I ended up using to tie bows in my black tennis shoes. Because we would be doing a lot of walking, I opted out of heels, and chose not to wear the Adult Boot Tops I'd ordered, because they were going to require some work to get them to stay up, some re engineering, if you will, as there is nothing to make them want to stay up. I also had to pin the red material under the gold ribbon, underneath and to the side, because the costume was sent a bit big. When pulling on the sleeves, I pulled by the ruffle, and tore one, but was able to sew it to look like new. (btw, dont' do that!). The hat made the costume and really looked cool cocked to the side, a bit. The outfit was fun, flirty, but very tasteful, and was probably the best female pirate/bucaneer costume I saw at Walt Disney World,- and people at this Halloween party are VERY serious about their costumes! It was surprisingly VERY well made, not like some of the cheap ones I'd looked at previously, that cost a lot more. I found a really bright gold necklace, with big circles that almost looked like coins (at Kohls) with huge gold earrings, which really set the look. I'd highly recommend this costume, and to buy it a size or two larger (I'm a size 14, 5.8", and this size as a little big, easy to modify, but I think the smaller size- as Halloween costumes tend to run small- would have been tight). I like the costume a lot. Very flattering and comfortable but yet it is very short like others have pointed out. I am 5'6'' and it barely covered the bottom of my butt. I wore it twice, once with a pair of leather shorts that I had and the second time with a black crinoline skirt that I had which both worked perfect. The hat to me worked fine since it is in fact just a costume. It did come smashed up but once on it looked fine for the purpose. There are no boot covers so you can order some or just use some boots you have to pull off the look. The dress is stretchy enough and the front is adjustable with the strings that you can tighten or loosen as needed for your bust. I am a 38D cup and the small worked great on me. The attached coin purse was a great added touch. And the belt held up fine for me. My boyfriend liked the outfit said I looked sexy in it. So I was pleased

Costume came on time, smelled and looked new, and included all pieces. The hat was mostly in tact. I tried it on, and I dont think it’s super flattering. It fits well enough, but the sleeves are uncomfortable. They’re tight at the top and loose on the bottom (makes sense why they looked longer in customer photos than on the model). I think they would drive me crazy after a short while. Either that or I’d get used to them. As others have said, the belt is too big. I think I could make it work with tape if I wanted. It’s a halter dress with ties around the neck and no fabric covering the top of the back. I couldn’t tell in customer photos and there’s no picture of the back in the ad. There’s no zipper, so it goes on over your head or you can step into it if you’re slim enough.I don’t like how the laces on the front of the top have to be loose. I think that makes it look less flattering. It’s very short, and I’m very short. So, it would be very, very short on anyone of average height and even shorter on a tall person. I’d definitely wear a petticoat and tights with it.All of that said, it’s an almost complete costume (boots, sword and jewelry not included) for a decent price. Maybe it would look better in other colors?

Bought this costume for a Halloween event I’m 5’2 176lbs and ordered an X-Large. I bought a black tutu to go underneath but it only made the dress shorter in the back so I bought a black petticoat which looked good but it made it the dress look king and almost down to my knees and I wore knee high boots so I felt like it didn’t look good because there was very little gap between so I choose to just wear black shorts underneath. I got a lot of compliments, would recommend buying.

Loved it ! Very short skirt so I wore leggings with holes in them and it matched the pirate theme perfectly. I opted not to put a petticoat underneath the skirt and it still looked amazing. I received many compliments. I bought the same size as I usually wear (XL), didn't need to size up or down. I highly recommend this costume !

Fits as expected everywhere except for how short it is. I will have to wear leggings underneath. My butt is bigger than average and it literally shows... It's a cute costume, cheaper material. The hat came smushed but hopefully I'll be able to get the kinks out.
