Love these electric curlers - works great and holds a curl.

I haven’t had hot rollers in decades and decided to get a set and this was a great set for me. It has enough of the bigger rollers. I think there’s like six of them. I ended up maybe not even using all of them and then the mediums and I don’t think I touched any of the small ones I have shoulder length hair. It worked great for me. Super simple. There is no on/ off button that I can tell. I literally just plugged it in and it lit up and takes about 10 minutes or so to heat up. the one roller has a dot that will change colors when it’s heated and when it’s cool it’s a different color so you just keep an eye on that. I realized the pins themselves are different sizes to fit the different size rollers. Each pin has a colored dot at the end to indicate which size roller it fits. Very easy to use. The rollers were hot. I would say not too hot to damage hair. The inside where your hair touches is like a soft felt material.

I just received this roller set this evening, and I tried it right away. I noticed a hot plastic smell, which I guess is to be expected. It heats up relatively fast, although not as fast as my curling iron. I like that I can set my hair, then do my makeup while the curlers do their work. They did a good job curling my hair. We'll see how long the curls last. The two negatives: no automatic shutoff (which would have been convenient), and NO place to put the J-clips, unlike any hot roller set I've ever had before. Fortunately, I have a slot to put them in my makeup tray, but it would be a lot more convenient in the unit itself, especially for traveling.

So originally I did not plan on leaving a review for the product. Not because I had any problems, but more so because I didn't- and it's only been about a week and I've used it three times as of today. HOWEVER, I saw a lot of reviews commenting on the wax leaking out of the rollers or the bottoms melting, and like most assumed it was being used wrong. It says specifically ten minutes, so, leave it plugged ten minutes. There is a strong chemical smell for the first few minutes when heating (it goes away after reaching max temp, and this is likely because the product is new) so it seems like the natural conclusion to avoid at all costs overheating them. I managed to forget I'd plugged it in until about 40 minutes (minimum) to an hour-ten later. Expecting the worst, I yanked it from the outlet and proceeded to grab at each roller, without really touch-testing, to check the bottom. Absolutely NONE of them were damaged, and as an added "bonus" on what I thought was a bad situation, they were 100% the same temperature as if I had left them the recommended time- No scalding. Not to say it's A-OK to be haphazard about it, but it shows theres at least some form of regulation rather than the temperature perpetually increasing. They do tend to feel hotter, for whatever reason, a few minutes after unplugging and while I've never burned myself while placing the first couple, I do tend to notice the heat come the third or fourth application- Though this could just be a delayed response and taking longer to fiddle with certain ones (since you work your way back to forward where shorter hairs tend to be more finicky). Any burn that can/does occur leaves a sensation akin to a burnt tongue, no redness/blistering (except where I had scar tissue from a kitchen accident on my thumb), and only happens when you're holding the roller longer than 10 or so seconds- absolutely NOTHING compared to the sensation of knicking yourself on a curling/straightening iron, however for elderly this could be seen as a potential problem. Concern about this can easily be mediated by purchasing a heat-proof glove which is sometimes included with straightening irons and available online or at Sally's. I would guess any instance where the machine heated to the point it melted and destroyed the product was either defect or a result of an overpowered circuit, in which case it's a bit more of a blessing in disguise- super dangerous! Again, I accidentally left it in THIRTY TO FIFTY MINUTES longer than was instructed and they were 100% fine and did not cause any burns.

I got this set for the soft smooth design of the rollers. It works okay. The rollers are comfortable enough, but I don't think it's any better than the others or the one I replaced. My hair doesn't hold the curl very long, so I don't think it gets hot enough. The variety of size rollers is good, plenty of options for the kind of curl you want. I don't use the pins, don't like that kind. No storage for the pins. I got comb style clips, which work better and are more comfortable. The length of the cord is adequate. I don't like how long it takes for it to heat up and be ready to use. I would say that it's an average hot roller set, not all bad, nothing exceptional.
