The BEST and ONLY Yoga book you will ever want
I loved everything about this yoga book. Over the past 40 years I have purchased around a dozen yoga books. This one leaves the others in the dust! Its physically great to use, no fighting to keep the page open while following instructions. Great detail on what you are doing and what it does for your body. Print is large which is great for reading at a distance while getting into a position. The authors are excellent! This is the only Yoga book you will ever need.

Amazing literature but missing some key components that I learned in yoga class outside of that great for beginners good photos and we'll designed book. Great collectors item for beginners

Exactly what you need to learn yoga
This is a great book for those who would like to start a home yoga practice. This book will explain what equipment you will need (not much), cover breathing, preparation stretches, an hour long beginners program and separate intermediate program. All poses have step by step instructions and associated pictures, modifications, how long to hold the pose and a description of what each pose means and its benefit. There is a short history of yoga as well as additional breathing and meditation practices. Lastly the book stands up on its own so you can reference it easily while doing poses and turn the pages at your own pace. For someone like me who has wanted to take up yoga but doesn't have much extra time to go out to classes and can't afford them anyway, this book is a great tool.

Easy to use; Great for beginners or experts
I've read at least 15 books (as of 9.2004) on Yoga and this one is one of the most informative and easy to use. It also has advanced moves for when you progress. I use Yoga to compliment my long-distance running and weight lifting. I broke my back (L5-S1) about 5 years ago and needed surgery. I vowed to never let myself suffer again. With a combination of weight lifting and Yoga, I think you can almost guarantee success. You will not feel intimidated using this book. The moves are adequately explained and most importantly details what areas of the body are stretched/enhanced with each move.

Beautifully presented book, but not for Beginners
Good book, but hardly for beginners. There is a little material designed for the real beginner, but not much. Some of the body contorted moves pictured are laughably difficult even for someone with moderate yoga experience. The book is slick with beautiful photos to illustrated the yoga positions, which is much more helpful than books with drawings only.

Great Book for Beginners.
Well organized spiral book with colored images of each position with plenty of detail on how to do each pose. Also listed are the benefits of doing each pose , which is good to know that you're strengthening your sacrum, back, etc. I've given several as gifts, very well done.

Great Yoga Book
Have returned to my previous love of yoga; I am a senior citizen and this helps me with strength and balance. The book has all the instructions and pictures of poses that I need to reintroduce myself to yoga.

Wonderful illustrations and explanations.
Very easy to use with its ingenious easel stand. The poses are deceptively simple. They provide an excellent workout. This is a great book for beginners. I love it!

Excellent beginners yoga self teaching book
Excellent beginners yoga self teaching book. Detailed written instructions accompanied by big colour photos of the positions. First session had to keep taking glasses on and off to read instructions, thereafter kept them off as the pictures were my guide. Good condition for next to nothing second hand price. When it arrived a couple of the spiral binders were a bit bent making it difficult to turn pages, but easily straightened and pages turn smoothly now. Very pleased with my purchase.

Good starter book
Bought this book and still doing the exercises every day. I can feel the difference as long as you make time to do it regularly.

Well I'm 80 years old, and not quite sure if I should be starting with this but it's a very good basic book which "holds your hand" as you progress. I've only read it so far and very gently tried some of the positions but I would recommend this to anybody thinking of taking up yoga
