DaVinciTwin/Full Size Bed Conversion Kit (M4799) in Espresso

Very sturdy with the Sorelle Princeton Elite crib head/footboard combo once the holes were in place.Finished product shown in picture after new holes were stained with a q-tip and some espresso stain.Does take some woodworking skills and cordless drill. Specific tools used were a step bit, 7/16 and 1/2" forstner bits and a long 1/4 drill bit.Make a template of the screw holes on the bed rails with a scrap of paper and rubbing with the side of a pencil. You'll use this to mark the correct distance when adding new holes.On the Sorelle, I used an existing hole that was equally high from the ground on all 4 corners, knocked out the barrel nut and then drilled straight through to the other side carefully (in-line with the bed side rail). Use the step bit to enlarge the hole from the outside just large enough you can get your forstner bit to start cleanly.Drill with the forstner bit deep enough the supplied screws will stick out the inside about 1-1/4 or more when inserted into your new hole. Once you are sure the hole is deep enough, mark the bit with a sharpie for the remaining 3 holes so you know the depth easily.Use your paper template and mark the spot for the upper hole above the one you just completed. Drill again centered through to the other side with the 1/4" bit, enlarge hole, drill the inset with the forstner and test fit a corner. If the screw alignment isn't perfect, you can slightly oval your hole with the 1/4" bit to change the screw angle.The supplied hardware was not the best. If you didn't hit the barrel nut straight on, it wrecked the threads and you had to flip it over to get the screw to start.Get it snug, but don't go crazy tight. You'll split or crack the vertical rails on the ends.My son slept for 11 hours the first night without his bed squeaking from the metal side rails we replaced.Huge change for little cost and it looks pretty decent now too!

One of the main draws to when I purchased the Davinci Emily was that it would convert as my child grew thus removing the need for us to constantly replace the bed to fit her and saving us money in the long run. It did exactly that perfectly over the years until my daughter became part of the "Big Kid" group and it made sense for us to fully convert the bed to its Full Size despite her still having at least a couple more years to need an adult bed.This was the only conversion kit available for DaVinci Emily and in the color that I needed to match the existing crib/toddler bed. Upon reading the reviews, I was aware that the rails were decent but it wasn't sturdy enough to hold a full-sized mattress without some additional slats or reinforcements. Of course the DaVinci bed is oddly sized so there are no existing slats offered that would work with it as one reviewer pointed out after endless hunting.My husband and I converted the toddler bed to the full size bed together in about an hour (removing the needed parts of the toddler bed and applying the conversion kit/rails) so assembly wise, it was fairly easy and straight forward. Once the bed was converted, we got to see exactly what many reviewers complained about and even though the rails appear to be sturdy, the area that is suppose to support/hold the mattress is abysmal to say the least. It might support a young child but I suspect it will break over time with an adult so my husband custom cut a 3/4" thick plywood board before we put the mattress on top of it as we did not want to buy a springbox as it would make the bed extremely high for our daughter - not to mention the danger if she were to roll off of it. The plywood fixed that issue without a hitch and BOTH my husband and I have slept in that bed without any issues of the rails breaking etc.Can the rails be better made and designed? Of course especially with how much it costs. Unfortunately, we don't have that option when we initially did the conversion. Time will tell how the rails and board holds up but for now, we are satisfied with the solution. <(^_^)>

We bought this to convert our Kalani Crib to a full size bed. As stated in the reviews, we purchased a standard 53” wide box spring. Upon initially assembly, the bed ended up being about 1” too narrow to support the box spring. I had read a handful of other reviewers who had stated the same thing but it seemed unlikely that nearly 700 other reviewers did not have this issue. We spent 3 days trying to figure out what was wrong, and eventually discovered that we had put the rails in upside down. There is nothing to specify in the assembly directions which way they go. So, when you assemble this bed with the Kalani crib, ensure the more narrow end of the rails are facing up. I hope this information saves someone the stress we went through trying to make this product work. Now that we have it installed correctly the bed is perfect.

I loved my mini crib more than I can tell you. I'm Canada though they are not common and so finding bedding proves tricky...especially since I ungraded the mattress (who would let their kid sleep on that?!). I happily bought custom bedding and raved to everyone about the Benedict she of having a mini crib. It fit our small space perfectly and served my son very well for nearly three years. He climbed out of it a few months ago, we did a little trick to extend his sleep in the crib but now can get out again. It's become unsafe for him so I planned to set up the rails (that I bought in 2014). Like another customer....so disappointed to find that the bolts are too small. True it's not the end of the world to go to homedepot and get some new ones but...seriously?!? Even IKEA will be sure that the hardware needed is there! Shoddy!

Great rails, easy to install. I will say, what you see is what you get. You get the 2 rails pictured, and some hardware... That's it. There are no slats included, so if you need those (like I did) you'll either need a box spring, or buy slats separately. I read some reviews about the hardware not fitting certain conversions. We have the Kalani 4 in 1 Crib, which we converted it to the toddler bed, and with this kit, to the full size bed. Hardware was perfect for this crib... no issues.

This was easy to assemble to convert our mini crib to a twin bed. The only downside is that it isn't quite as sturdy as a regular bed frame. I was fine on it, but a larger person (say 200 lbs and up) might break it if one is not careful.

The last and easiest part of the crib conversion to a bed should be adding the railings. For the high price you get two planks of wood and 8 bolts. With a 3 year old eager to try out the new bed you realise the bolts are 1/2 inch too small and therefore the railings will not attach to head and foot board. Am I really going to call the manufacturer and wait days for the bolts? I had to get to hardware store. Pay for more bolts so that I could get the bed set up for my son that night. There is a small notation at the end of the instructions that says if bolts too small use large bolts from other parts of the bed. What a useless place to put instructions, every other part of the bed has been built to spec using the recommended bolts. How cheap can the manufacturer be considering I paid over $100 CDN for 2 planks of wood. The bed looks great now, can't see the railings though.
