Shur-Line 2006561 Paint Edger Pro with Two Pack of 2001044 Painter’s Pad Refills

At first it looks and feels a little flimsy but it works great. Gets paint to the edge without marking other side. Easy to clean...and pad is very easy to reuse.Few tips - start 1 inch from edge and glide towards edge and then slide along. Repeat this every feet....especially if you unpainted streaks. When loading paint, just barely dunk it into paint tray....try to be level but ensure top part is little more into paint and then wipe excess. Ensure wheels are clean before painting.When reusing pad...move it around until it clicks before dipping it into paint....it has a specific orientation.Definitely made painting faster and easier....only used tape for weird angles.

This is a good tool for cutting in paint.The negatives are: skip this version and get the one w/o the pole attachment (non pro?). It is very difficult to use with an extension pole as it does not apply pressure evenly so the paint goes on either heavily on the top or bottom of the pad depending on your position. Also, it has very limited off axis, i.e. side to side range. Negative number two - the body of the tool is hollow behind the pad so the paint comes off the pad at the perimeter of the pad more than in the center. I had to press with fingers splayed on the right and left side of the tool to get the paint to lay down evenly. And thirdly, all pad tools work best with the paint bucket designed for pad use which seems, for some unexplained reason, to be scarcer than hen's teeth now a days. Using pads in a conventional paint tray is VERY difficult to do efficiently and much slower than with the tray designed for pads ( these have a multi-faceted roller wheel that partially hangs into a pool of paint, just roll the pad over the wheel and it applies just the right amount of paint to the pad. I have no idea why these have disappeared from the market, they were around for decades and now they are no where to be found...)

Easy to use: Sort of. The instructions are fine, and give a decent way of how to use the product, but the website provided does NOT work. I would use you tube for a more expert use of applying paint to the product. For me, this took a bit of practice to get used too, and will often lead to droplets of paint coming down. Make sure to not apply TOOOOO much, otherwise, you will have a lot of clean up. Practice before going to difficult corners!Easy to clean: Yes, you just need to be rough with the bristles and apply a lot of water, if necessary, paint thinner or paint remover to REALLY save the applicator. Otherwise, it comes with two free(?) applicators.Value for money: Absolutely. You're saving yourself some time, and if time is money for you, than yes, it's a value.Tip: Be sure to have plastic on the floor or paper, so you can have little to no clean up while practicing with this product. This takes a little bit of time to get used too!

I bought this to paint my open stairwell, since I was unwilling to hire the work out and didn't want to invest in some complicated ladder system to use as scaffolding over the stairs. I went into painting thinking that this was the best of limited options and my expectations were low. It worked...fine. The concept is good but execution is difficult without lots of practice. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos on the advice of other reviewers to make sure I knew how much paint should be loaded onto the pad each time and any other tips for using the tool. I practiced, and it did a good job on the section of the wall where I could hold the unit in my hand with a ladder - nice clean edges up against the ceiling and door molding without any marking on the ceiling. BUT be wary when you are using it on an extension pole. To get a clean line and to keep the tool from rotating to the side you have to keep steady, firm pressure in the middle of the unit, but the limited vertical tilt means you have to be standing exactly beneath the tool (where you can't exert much pressure at all with a pole). I had assumed when I purchased that the vertical tilt where the tool attaches to a pole was such that I could have used it on the ceilings as well, but that's not possible due to the way it is designed. I have a bunch of gray paint marks on my ceiling now, but the walls are done and I'm considering it good enough. But I will need to hire someone to come and paint the ceiling.Note that in all the videos I saw, the pros were using it either in hand or on a very short (1-2 foot) pole - I think it works best in that circumstance but wouldn't recommend it on an extension pole unless you have limited options and low expectations for final product like me!

I cannot recommend this paint pad for two reasons: (1) The plastic hinge on it broke halfway through my small job of painting a simple door, making it useless from that point on. I was not using it in a rough manner either. (2) I would start painting at the top of the door and come down. By the time I got mid-way down, it dripped large amounts of paint onto the floor. I never had this problem with a roller.I've done a lot of painting in my time, mostly with rollers. I tried this paint pad and my conclusion is that rollers are still the best. The one area where a paint pad is helpful is where the wall meets the ceiling. For this purpose, a pad can be useful to paint the top of the wall without getting paint on the ceiling.If you want to use a paint pad, I recommend the Mr. LongArm 0470 Trim Smart Paint Edger over this one. However, be aware that the LongArm also has the dripping problem.
