Plano 1312 Dry Storage Emergency Marine Box, Orange

Never purchased this brand or type of storage container. Extremely pleased with this purchase. The box is well constructed, with a silicone sealer that lines the top of the box and secures a seal with the body of the case. Visual inspection indicates it's a good seal, but the company is not claiming it to be waterproof. Anyway, I bought 4 of these orange plastic containers. I plan to use at least 2 for first aid kits, where water resistance to keep the integrity is imperative. The other 2 containers will be kept in the basement, filled with tools and accessories (think drill bits, saw blades, stray hand tools). I'll toss in a few silicon dry packs to absorb any humidity, too. I can think of various uses for a locking container like this.So far, can't find any problems or defects with this product.Happily, I can give this full star rating, and a high recommendation.

These are super useful. Fairly waterproof so I use them on my boat and haven't had any intrusion of water yet.

Dimensions were accurately described. But it would be helpful to identify this as a MID SIZE box for clarity and to avoid confusion. It is smaller than the standard Plano ammo can type box.I was initially very disappointed with the box. The tollerences on the lid to box joint were clearly not tight enough to claim any sort of water resistance.Upon close inspection, it appeared that the black rubber gasket had been installed upside down. (The flat side was the mating surface rather than the rounded side). I removed and reinstalled in under 5 seconds and had a MUCH improved seal.I wouldn't claim water proof by any stretch. But important items in a zip lock bag and then placed in this box should be safe from sun, sand, and sea. Tupperware probably has a better seal overall.Water resistant is an accurate description.I used mine to build out some first aid /emergency kits for the car trunk for friends and family. Easily holds matches, candles, space blankets, trauma dressings, light sticks, ice packs, para cord, small knife etc.Great for an application where visibility and a grab and go is needed.I wouldn't use it to store my passport on an around the world sailboat trip.But good value for price. If you know what to expect.

This is perfect for keeping items dry on the boat. I keep items that I will need all the time and just carry the box.

I bought a new truck and my old one had a bed box. I didn't want a big bed box and was looking for something to hold my cargo and tow straps. It holds the tow hooks and cargo straps, but not the tow strap or bungee cords.

These are $10, if you are expecting the durability of a $50 seahorse you are not the sharpest bulb in the housewares sectionMade in America, they seem to seal well, they are consistent (I bought 3) the handle seems to work fine (although I did not load mine to the brim with ammo) latch is secure, hinge is about on-par with any of their tackle boxes (if you haven't had a Plano tackle box, your not American)For my use, the orange is nice, these will be protecting slats in a fireworks remote fire system for this years 4th show, I will update my review with how these hold up to THAT particular abuseGreat box, just don't expect to run it over with your car...

Works well as a sturdy hard sided box that snaps shut, but the rubber gasket does not make a watertight seal. I bought this in hopes of using it to store emergency supplies on my fishing boat. On its first use it filled with about a 1/4 inch of water while it was laying on its side on the floor in the back of the boat.

Added these to my kayak. Great for kayak mod. Use them as rod holders or use them to add pvc rack mods on your kayak. They were an easy install and work perfect.
