Over in the Grasslands: On an African Savanna

My 5 year old son loves this book. He’s singing while reading it. Its very educational because they will get to know other animals in Africa like jackal. They are hidden animals in this book. My son had fun finding it.

We loved the sea one and the artwork in it. This book is by a different artist, which was a tad disappointing, but overall it met our needs. I liked this combination of a counting book, learning about African animals book, and finding hidden animals book. The hidden animals essentially double the number of African animals included in the book to twenty. My main complaints are that the hidden hyena is in the crease so you cannot see it, the chimpanzee faces were too cartoonish, the hidden rhino was very hard to see, and I did not like the overall look of the jackals (seemed too kid craftsy verses artwork.) Overall its a great book with lots of facts about animals in the back.

This is a cute little book with little poems for each number and goes with animals in Africa.

I am a Children's Librarian and I love all of her books and eagerly await each new one that comes out. Since you can sing this book the age range that can enjoy it is unlimited. I have used it with toddlers to school-age children. The illustrations are fabulous and detailed. I also love the extra "game" of finding the hidden animals and the plethora of extra information at the end of the book. Highly highly recommended. Keep them coming.

I recently took a trip to So. Africa for a safari and wanted to show my 3 year old grandsons the animals I saw. This book was a cute way to share with them. They loved it and I did too! The illustrations sparked more conversation and questions from the little ones.

This is a beautiful book! My nephews love it! The pictures are nice, and there are added tidbits of information you can share with them to help them learn as they get older.
