The Art of Boutis: 20 French Quilting Projects

Great book and I you like to sewing and you like the French art of Boutis, this is the right one.

The book appeared to be brand new! Great! I am so excited to learn this technique that I had never heard of before.

Not exactly what I had hoped for but it did give me a few good patterns. I was hoping for a more beginners introduction and I am pretty sure a beginner can use this to start with but it is laid out with the details and explanations of stitches in the back so if you are new to this type of needlework you will be going back a forth a bit until you get the feel of it. Beautiful pictures and cute projects.

The photos of the French boutis quilts are beautiful. The directions and patterns are clear.

The reason I gave it such a low review, is because I bought this through Kindle. I wanted the patterns and I wanted them right away for a project. It does not state anywhere that you will not get the patterns that are in the back of the book on separate sheets of paper. I feel if I pay almost the exact same price as a paper book I should get all of it. Very disappointed. Now I have to buy the paper book too. No way to return the Kindle version.

The Art of Boutis is beautiful. Having not yet used this book, I cannot say if the book is easily understood or not. However, planning to use it in the future. The overall effect is really eye catching.

Nice book--nice condition-informative

I first came across Boutis Embroidery when I enrolled on a 1 hour class at a Knitting & Stitching Show and it rather intrigued me. I bought a magazine that had some in, and that was a little different, because it used coloured threads under the white material which was really effective.Then I stumbled across this book. The picture on the cover was enough for me to buy it - that bag!!!!! On receiving it, I found there were lots of projects on all sorts of things; for special occasions, items for women, items for the home.The diagrams and instructions are nice and clear, and at the back are all the full size templates on a large sheet of very good quality heavy paper that you can take out and cut up. Would have been nicer if it had been in a pouch on the back cover, but that's my only niggle. Boutis is actually very, very simple, but because of the effects you get it looks really complicated. The complexity of the projects vary from nice and simple to really long, time consuming ones to keep you quiet on those long winter nights. Using just running stitch, and back stitch you can create some really impressive designs. A great book!The great thing about boutis is, if you can't afford the very expensive white bastiste fabric you can use a good quality sheet instead and still get a great effect.

A beautiful book but very advanced. I wanted to try some simple beginner's items.

I absolutely love this book. Like another reviewer I bought it for the cover photo, but without exception I really like all the projects. What a beautiful book. Thrilled with it. Patterns in the back, and clear instructions with each article to make. They are stunning. Only just received it and can't wait to get started. I definitely need to make the baby bib, bootees and bonnet.What a fabulous Christening present they will make. I highly recommend this book.
