Nice Modular System For Those Without Inground Sprinklers
I've used this system for years and been very happy with it, but last year put away my four-valve set-up somewhere and couldn't find it this year. Luckily I had a timer, four-outlet "ducks foot" manifold and two valves set aside as spares (got 'em in a sale), so all I needed was two more valves. Bought two of these as the older design cannot be found now.Works well with my older model timer. Had to do some fiddling at first because both the new valves I bought began in the open state (unlike the older design which have always come on-line closed). In order to get it set for regular use I put the timer in manual mode and ran it for a few seconds, then pressed "clear" to shut the valve. Did this for both new valves, which have worked properly for days now. These new design valves have a better collar than the older ones, much easier to tighten up. I find it easiest to attach the valves to the ducks foot, then attach the hoses to each valve, then attach the whole shebang to the sillcock. Doing it the other way round invariably results in at least onbe cross-threaded hose connection which will leak like mad.One hint: These gate-valves shut the water off very quickly and produce severe water hammer in my pipes. I credit this with causing at least one failure in my cold water system. If you get the same, you *could* install a special expansion "shock absorber" in your pipe-work (it uses a column of air to cushion the hammer and reduce the force) but I found a cheaper and more convenient method that requires no plumbing, quite by accident.I connected a brass Y connector before the ducks foot and attached a Goodyear 50 foot rubber hose with one of those sprinkler guns fixed to the end. I opened the Y connector's valves and bled the air out of the Goodyear hose (by washing a deck). I forgot to shut the valve on the Y connector when I was done, and when the timer started working the the sprinklers I noticed there was no water hammer (it is very loud when it happens). I had a think and realized that when the water "kicked-back" when each valve slammed shut the shock was absorbed by the Goodyear hose stretching very slightly. Job done.It has to be a rubber hose to work. A plastic hose will not stretch and will eventually split (I had a flexible Y stand-off I used once that ruptured because of the water hammer and flooded my basement, which is why I use only brass fittings now). A 50 foot rubber hose is long enough that the stretch is spread out and doesn't harm the hose.

Works!
I have an 8 year old model Orbitz 4 port timer. Two out of the four old valves leaked around the housing. I could not find the exact valve model replacements for my timer but these look very similar so I went for it. I am glad that they work without issue. Plugged in and synced up to my timer just like the old ones. No more leaks and all is well. Happy with my purchase.

Direct replacement except that it is GRAY
I couldn't be happier with this replacement sprinkler valve! The installation process was an absolute breeze; it practically took me no time to set up. What truly sets it apart is its exceptional longevity – it's been working flawlessly season after season, without any hiccups. The only minor downside is that it's gray in color, which differs from my original black valve, but in the grand scheme of things, it's a purely cosmetic concern. The performance and durability far outweigh this minor aesthetic difference. This valve has proven itself as a reliable and long-lasting addition to my irrigation system, and I gladly give it a five-star rating. If you're in need of a replacement valve, don't hesitate to choose this one; it won't disappoint!

Product Functions Correctly, but . . .
The water valve function correctly, but there was a problem on the initial installation.I have three timer controlled systems on my water hydrants, and have used them for 3+ years with no failures. I bring the controllers in during the winter, and replace the batteries each spring. This year I needed to add another supply line to one of the timers so I ordered a replacement valve. After install the valve and turning the water on I discovered that the valve was 'stuck' in the open position and water immediately began flowing out. I unplugged the valve and plugged it back in; no effect. I switched an older valve and the new valve to see if the controller was at fault; the controller was good and the new valve was defective.I called the Orbit customer service line. The technical service person was VERY helpful, offered 1 suggestion, and offered to replace the valve, free of charge, if his suggestion didn't work. Bottom line, his suggestion worked, and here it is . . .Sometimes, in manufacturing, the valve can become 'stuck' in the open position (as mine was). After installing the valve, but before turning the water on, cycle the new valve on and off 1 time using the manual button on the controller, which will should 'reset' the valve. His suggestion worked and all is well.I rated the product '4 star' because nothing comes in the product instructions regarding having to 'reset' the valve. Obviously this is a know issue because the technician immediately told me what to do. I do appreciate the fact that the Orbit service department was easy to reach, the technician was easy to understand, and he was willing to replace the product if it was truly defective.

Perfect replacement for an older watering device
Works like a charm. I plugged it into the back of my very old but still working Orbit timer and attached it to an above ground irrigation system for our flower and vegetable garden. No leaks. Saved money by not having to replace the entire system.

Exactly What We Needed!
Our Orbit Defenders that we purchased 2 years ago worked great for keeping the deer away from our roses and flowers but this past winter the valves in both devices froze in the open position and water came out non-stop. We found replacement valves on Amazon which were about $18 and decided to give them a try. It only took about two minutes each to take off the bad part and put on the new. The Orbit Defender sprinklers worked like new! The deer hate it but we love it.
